I’m so fascinated by Tom Dundon, the new owner of the Blazers. He’s penny pinching and people hate him already yet he just won the Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes. Clearly he is doing something right.
The NBA coaching community is furious at the Portland Trail Blazers over this low-end, incentive-laden, one-guaranteed-season contract with Micah Nori.
I spoke with @NBA_Coaches prez JB Bickerstaff, Darvin Ham and Lloyd Pierce about why, at @TheAthletic

@DavidPSamson@Hassel_Chris I’m so sorry for your loss David. There are no words that can comfort at a time like this. May her memory be a blessing. 💔💔💔
BREAKING: MLB has announced a new Home Run Derby format for 2026 ☄️
The new format is as follows:
⚾ 8 participants, Top 4 advance to Round 2
⚾ 20 swings in Round 1 and 15 swings in the final two rounds
⚾ A player who hits a HR on his final swing in any round can continue until he records an out or wins the round
Underrated but Jim McMahon’s injury vs Green Bay in 1986 when he was slammed to the ground and then out the rest of the season and the Bears lost to Washington in the divisional round after winning the Super Bowl the previous year.
The Derrick Rose injury is probably the most demoralizing injury in Chicago sports history, but one that doesn’t get talked about enough is how heartbreaking Frank Thomas’ 2005 foot fracture was.
The best player in White Sox history missed the entire World Series run.
Thinking of seasons where the Cubs had huge expectations and laid an egg here’s what I got. 1985, 1990, 1991, 2005, 2009, 2019. Probably the best examples similar to this year.
I love this idea and bringing in Costas to do the game is brilliant but if it’s 80’s night why couldn’t the White Sox wear their 1983 uniforms? Missed opportunity.
Good guy and great columnist. Sad what’s happening to the landscape of media today. I hope someone is smart enough to bring Dave on board for him to keep writing and talking about sports here in South Florida.
My 36-year run at the Sun-Sentinel is over. Laid off for the first time since I lost my job as an ice-rink skate guard at 17. Cost-cutting move then, they said, too. I'm a month from 65, so please keep any sympathy for my newspaper friends who didn’t make it to the finish line like I have. I’m looking forward to doing some things I want to do so before the hall narrows and the light dims so you might not be completely done with me yet. Thanks to everyone who made it such a fun run.
I’m old enough to remember when fans thought Craig Counsell was going to be the best manager the Cubs ever had when he first got hired. We’re a long way from that day. #GoCubsGo
I love how these AD’s act as if they’ve been victimized. If Will Wade wasn’t producing they’d be finding a way to fire him or resign. You move on when you feel you have a better opportunity in any profession. They can also fire you when they want too.
NC State AD Boo Corrigan on Will Wade 👀
"Tuesday night, we talked about everything in the program... I asked him what we needed to be competitive. From there, as far as the resignation, it was an email that we received from his agent."
"I'd commiserate with (fans), in terms of feeling lied to. And I'd let them know that I'm as surprised as they are by what's gone on."

@Hassel_Chris I can’t thank you enough for tweeting this. I have been thinking this thought the last 3 days. 😂 you’re a true hero in my eyes for doing this. I’m serious. 🙌🏻👍🏻
People losing their collective minds over UNC and Hubert Davis and wanting him fired. 🤦🏻♂️ Carolina fans forget how bad it was when Matt Doherty was there. Davis is doing just fine. He Caleb Simpson, his best player. If he’s healthy they’re going to the sweet 16. #UNC#TarHeels
I’m looking forward to the 2034 NFL Draft when Tennessee Vols QB Marshall Manning goes #1 overall to the NY Jets who are still looking for a quarterback.
