@newmanbe @brookebikesmke That one would require coordination with MKE Co, so it was punted to the intersection project, which will be designed over next few years.

This is me publicly stating that if I were to ever be hit by a car while biking, I would explicitly like my crash to be politicized in the name of demanding safer non-car infrastructure in this city π
@BourbonPlanner Right, but sometimes private streets accessible to the public are still subject to same requirements. Just have dealt with this specific gray area before.
@BourbonPlanner If they eliminated the run around it looks like the sidewalk slope would be about 8%. If the parallel street has the same slope, PROWAG would allow that, but not 100% sure this street is covered by PROWAG
@wfbsafe I would eliminate slip lanes (can't bc of truck movements on state route). Minimize lane widths, potentially make it a protected intersection (but that could be difficult with the skew). That there is no bike lanes on any of the legs makes it difficult to advocate for that.
@bellachu10 I'm not disagreeing, I'm saying the structure of the industry makes it VERY hard to change. It's not just the MUTCD, most DOT policies require serious crash history before obvious safety issues can be addressed.
@bellachu10 You are assuming that data makes its way to those designers, which unfortunately simply isn't the case. There is also SO MUCH institutional momentum w/ DOTs: project managers & engineers are required to follow outdated guidelines. Leaders don't want to rock the boat....no change.
