You’re nuts if you think UBI is coming
You think the American heartland is going to airdrop the laptop class free money after they gutted manufacturing and left these entire states for dead?
Brother you are on your OWN!! Better start saving up
I love long only funds who quote Buffett in their marketing materials. They’re always like “price is what you pay, value is what you get!” but then they conveniently ignore the parts where he says their clients should withdraw and most of the PMs shouldn’t have jobs.
I know several people who left big tech around 2022 to go try their hand at blue collar businesses.
All but 1 are now back in big tech.
I nod earnestly when I tell them “yeah who knew that cash flowing a laundromat in Sacramento would be harder than earning $236,000 and a 20% annual bonus for checking 17 slack messages per day?”
Startups will spend 5 years and burn through $25m to build yet another B2B Sales Prospecting SaaS tool while their local pest control and landscaping chain is fully bootstrapped and generating 10s of millions in yearly revenue

Today I learned that when Twitter acquired @uenodotco in 2021, @iamharaldur quietly negotiated for the acquisition price to be paid as salary so he could pay 46% in taxes instead of 22%, in gratitude to his education in Finland.
An especially stark contrast in character today.
Hey young people.
You seem to think you’re going to regret not grinding hard enough, or not making enough money when you’re young.
I don’t think you will.
I think you’ll regret the ways you were selfish, pre-occupied, distracted, unkind.
At least that’s my experience. ❤️
The real indicator of “Late Stage Capitalism” is that everything is now a subscription
Tractors, the heated seats in your car, - shit that has 0 business being a subscription
When you don’t own the physical goods you purchased outright - that’s late stage capitalism
weird but long time ago when i felt scared alone during 2-4 am i always think about bakers in their bakery who are already up during that time doing their thing
*sisyphus on the phone with his parents* yeah i’m actually making a ton of progress with the boulder…no there’s not really like promotions…no yeah I can definitely ask
@the_transit_guy Speaking of Germany, the United States, and population density, this reminds me of @mattyglesias’ book, which talks about how the U.S. could accommodate one billion people (about 3x the current population) and still have a population density below that of Germany’s.
