Do not presume that repealing DRIPA equates with a desire to abandon reconciliation. Reconciliation needs a framework that works for both indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians.
Further to that two independent members would receive about 280,000-350,000 less per year.
So 1,120,000-1,400,000 saved over 4 years.
That might go some distance to helping end the overnight closures at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Emergency room, which is a Green Party held riding.
Just imagine! Actually helping people.
There are 93 seats in the B.C. Legislature, is two seats the correct threshold for party status which comes with a good deal of extra taxpayer supported funding?
BC Conservative MLA @NVanCaroline vows to repeal DRIPA, warning the legislation is hurting investment and economic prosperity.
“We do need to repeal that. We’ve committed to repeal that, and we’re going to do that.”
BC's Premier Designate @LDoerkson says he is eager to begin diving into the state of the province's finances and the $13.8 billion deficit. Speaking to CBC News this am Doerkson says "I am concerned the deficit is even larger than we know or think".
David Eby was the last remaining anti-oil Premier in Canada.
Now every Premier across Canada supports the oil and gas industry and supports building pipelines.
The Trudeau-Guilbeault climate agenda was finally put down on Saturday night.
Get the shovels in the ground.
Premier-elect Lorne Doerkson reacts to news that an apparent white nationalist group was spotted gathering near the Legislature:
"We will act with every part of the law that we can to protect our residents from this kind of hate."
There were candidates in my own party I disagreed with, and I said so. I would have stood up to them. In some cases, the party itself did.
What I could never understand is how I became responsible for other people's words. I didn't say them. I didn't defend them. I rejected them. Yet people I've known for years, people who know exactly who I am and what I stand for, stopped speaking to me because of something someone else said.
I ran because I wanted to serve our area in Victoria and bring years of local experience to the table. Instead, I was shut out before anyone bothered to ask what I actually believe.
That's the part that stings. Not losing. Being judged by association, and denied the chance to be a voice for the community I've spent my life working alongside.
I was disappointed by her lack of conciliatory words too. It struck me as consistent with her earlier video, where she slipped into the posture of an activist rather than an elected official. Her job now is to serve everyone in the riding as MLA, and that calls for patience, understanding and poise.
This is the deeply disrespectful behaviour of the newly elected MLA for Saanich North and the Islands. Filmed during the 2026 Provincial Election.
We believe the location of this horrendous video to be the Seniors Outdoor Recreation area in Sidney BC.
I’m shocked and dismayed that voters here wanted this individual to serve us in addressing critical issues in the riding I have called home for nearly 20 years.
Our ER at Saanich Peninsula Hospital has been closed overnight for 3 ½ years under the previous Green/NDP government.
The behaviour of this MLA-elect along with the dismissive, angry and disturbing speech given after last nights election result may show a pattern of behaviour that is troubling.

I think her post campaign speech was in poor taste suggesting that the government which was just elected with 63 seats was from a party whose existence needed to be fought.
Had she come out and said she had misspoke and wished to convey that her job was to strongly oppose the policies she made had earned back some respect. I’ve not seen or her heard any such comments from Ms. Lowan.
It is deeply offensive to the hundreds of thousands of voters who voted for this government in a free and democratic election, which we have due to those who came before us preserving and protecting it for our benefit. Just as we must do for those who come after.
@rwrandall@Dock_Currie@Over9000Jon Perhaps not the best way to articulate my feelings. I had previously said I thought the use was disrespectful, meaning a lack of respect of why the equipment was installed. I retract the “deeply offensive” portion of that comment.
Many things can qualify as deeply disrespectful and even offensive, I would even argue that some might scale to a higher level than others. Need we dismiss the silly behaviour because you think the arbitrary threshold you establish in your mind isn’t met.
Also on the assumption that you believe in free dialogue I still fail to see what you’re accomplishing. What we have is a difference of opinion. My post has thousands of impressions and a decent number of responses. From people like yourself it seems to be negative, I think I struck a cord with you, thanks for paying so much attention, it’s truly flattering 😉
I’m going to guess that you have no idea of the difference between municipal and provincial politics.
It’s clear you do not have much of any knowledge of… anything perhaps?!
It’s entertaining engaging in a “battle of wits with an unarmed person” as the saying goes.
Petulant and puerile apply to you I have concluded. Maybe you will have to look those up.
Lenders not endlessly loan money to service an annual ongoing predictable tax liable. Seriously, do you have any really ongoing business experience, if so approach your lender and provide evidence that they would lend you money to pay a tax liability associated with a so-called “wealth” tax.
