Aim Journal #1: 1000+ days straight of Kovaaks
My name is Stefan(STE-FON). It's been nearly 4 years since I switched to MnK. I have achieved Grandmaster and my first Nova score from Voltaic's OG benchmarks.
All after starting with an Apex KDA of 0.04, a 20 point 1wall6targets score in the bottom 1% of players, a 230-280 ms reaction time, joint mobility loss/pain resulting in an arthritis diagnosis at 21, a head injury that reset my benchmarks from Master back to Silver during my military service, and other priorities of life such as 10-16hr military shifts and my children.
Much like yourself, when I started I assumed there was probably an upper limit to the skill it was possible FOR ME to achieve. However, the limits I placed on myself have long since been surpassed. If I can reach Nova, anyone can. Bad genetics may affect your rate of growth. However, your current peak is forever undefined and you will not reach it in this lifetime. We truly have no limits. Those 200hrs your spent hardstuck Gold only meant your training and understnaing of aim needed polishing. I hope to help.
After nearly 3000 hrs of aim trainers, I feel that... I might be kinda decent, and my opinions might be worth something. So, I intend to share my musings through this series of Aim Journaling on various topics that come to me over time. I hope to both cement what I am learning, and provide guidance and optimized improvement for those that come after me. Whether you are considering starting aim training or you feel stuck below the advanced ranks, I hope to make this an excellent place to increase your aim knowledge. If you're ahead or beside me in the journey, please share your thoughts. I'll feed off of them.
Retweet to help another go beyond their limits.
If your aim isn’t where you want it to be, and you feel like you can’t talk to other aimers because of it… you can always talk to me. I promise you that I started off just as bad or worst than you.
This might not apply to everyone, but I know I struggled with feelings of inadequacy when I was at the bottom. Told myself I can’t help others until I hit Diamond. Then told myself I can’t interact with anyone better than me so I held off till Master. Now, I’m GM. I still somehow feel the same, but yea. Hope this helps someone else.
@Matty_OW We shouldn’t ding controller player for participation. I think this gives us a unique chance to further test the real limits of controller and how much of a necessity aim assist is in games. There could be an optional leaderboard separation, but this isn’t it.
@AimerLew Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption. K2 regulates calcium in certain areas. D3 Supplementation without K2 can lead to an excessive calcium absorption. K2 helps prevent excessive calcium build-up in your heart and instead the calcium gets directed to where it’s supposed to go.
Not just low player counts, but irrational toxicity. Reasonable people don’t seek to interact with what they dislike, however Highguard haters are flooding Highguard communities with overly harsh negativity towards both the devs and anyone who enjoys the game.
Can someone smarter than me explain why a game studio would invest $200M and 4 years of development just to shut the game down after 1 month because low player counts?
Like damn at least try to grow a player base for a few months before pulling the plug lol thats crazy
The Foundations of Mouse Tracking in 1 Tweet
Tracking Categories and What they Teach -
Smoothness - Introduction to form use, tension application, and speed matching.
Precision - Forces improvement of speed matching via gentle acceleration reading. Introduction to strafe reading with infrequent correction.
Control - Moderate acceleration reading with increased demand for strafe reading and correction.
Reactive - Heavy acceleration reading with frequent correction for strafes.
Tension (simplest application) -
Demand for proper tension budgeting/use grows as targets become more reactive.
High Tension - Small/far/fast target
Low Tension - Big/close/predictable target
Form Use -
Shoulder - Initiates motion, matches acceleration, pivot point
Elbow/Forearm - Sweeps in long motions, helps to match speed
Wrist - Flexes for short correction. Tightens in long motion/arm speed matching.
Fingers - Flex for micros, press for stability/control
Tension within your form -
Shoulder - Tension for speed matching and correcting for acceleration
Arm - Tension for stability. Notice how pressure into the sides of your mouse creates tension in top of forearm (tight wrist)
For flexing/relaxed Wrist - Pressure into the mouse via index finger and/or other top finger(s) (notice tension on the inside of your forearm/elbow, up into your bicep)
Fingers - Squeeze sides for speed matching, push down for stability and control (Don't forget your thumb and right side fingers can push down while they squeeze)
@moomeronthemoon The tutorial is way too long and dry, and the optimization bug SUCKED, so most people are hopping on the hate train. However, I love HIGHGUARD!
@Stitchs_CS@RitalinCitizen@PlayHighguard The recoil makes the bullets go away from the center of your screen. You can tell if you have an on-screen dot for your monitor.
@AvaBl0om The people that need to understand this most will miss the message completely and attempt to justify their actions further by doing more of the same: inputting themselves to not only bash the game or harass devs, but to harass strangers online in communities that do enjoy it.
If Highguard has a million fans, then I am one of them.
If Highguard has ten fans, then I am one of them.
If Highguard has only one fan then that is me.
If the world is against Highguard, then I am against the world.
@DropHazard@Dexerto There is no resource prioritization meta. Kill the enemies. Take space, hold space, kill the enemies… raid their base. You don’t have to touch the resources unless there is something you want from the shop specifically.
@Rell11246661 @TheOldestGreg@RealRaegus@Dexerto That’s RNG. All of the weapons from the practice range are in the game, you just have to find them. Have 4-5 weapons you like and you’ll find 2. If you’re only looking for one particular weapon, you’ll find it if you COMM “Someone ping the Longhorn with Repeater for me.”
