@Faireyswordfis@nnaeherungen@jorfolle This is such a weird narrative that‘s so weirdly widespread.
The French aren‘t children or animals. They have agency of their own and weren‘t just puppets for Bismarck to play with.
They very much wanted the war they started mainly because they thought they‘d win it easily
@visakanv@hollowearthterf I think that‘s BS at least for the US. Here in Germany where millions fought and died I could see it but you know how few Americans actually fought in real combat in WW2?
The vast majority spent the entire war doing logistics somewhere and then just made up war stories later
@PatAdnet@j_2ross >Then why haven't you done it so far?
Over time? How much?
Because we‘ve famously been way underspending on military for years?
It‘s gonna take years to decades to catch fully
@PatAdnet@j_2ross Well it‘s a stealth UAV so of course they would bring up when developing a stealth fighter. But that alone doesnt really mean much
Germany also developed a stealth UAV(barracuda) at the same time so according to your logic that means we actually have advanced expertise too then?
@PatAdnet@j_2ross What? Where did I ever claim we would outperform the US? You‘re the one who‘s claiming France would do it for pennies on the dollar based on 2000s UAV projects.
We will have to spend much more than them to build up the capabilities and it will take a long time but we can do it
@PatAdnet@j_2ross 5th and 6th gen are a little blurry as categories but there are a bunch of features that are generally accepted:
Advanced stealth, advanced electronic warfare, manned-unmanned teaming amd higher range. In other words a bunch of stuff France doesn‘t have…
@PatAdnet@j_2ross Of course you can buy skill or rather grow it over time. How do you think other countries like France acquired their expertise? It didn‘t just pop into existence one day😂
Also in what way would a UAV like the Neuron be relevant to jet fighter development? Apples and oranges…
@PatAdnet@j_2ross You guys wouldn‘t even be able to afford to develop a 5th gen on your own much less a 6th.
The reality is you‘re in really big trouble fiscally and things are only going to get even worse for you.
@PatAdnet@j_2ross I‘m sorry but you‘re completely delusional.
The US expect the F22 program to cost over $100 billion and they have way more expertise than you.
You don‘t have that kind of money whereas we could theoretically spend as much as $3 trillion and still have lower debt% than you.
@PatAdnet@j_2ross Well that‘s just not true. Airbus has made fighter jets before and with enough investment they‘ll make a 6th gen eventually.
The difference is that unlike you we have the money to fund such a project whereas France will never have a domestic 6th gen now that FCAS fell through
@BricButler@Lennart54613183@neincubed@277Enjoyer France has one military advantage and that‘s it‘s nukes. As for energy they have low costs but are completely dependant on Uranium imports so I‘m not so sure about standing on their own.
And any advantage France may have right now is undermined by their horrible fiscal situation
@Lennart54613183@neincubed@277Enjoyer Yeah obviously losing two world wars had some bad consequences but not on the level of being neutered.
Neutering would be something like what happened to Austria after WW1.
Something that the country can never recover from and that keeps it from being a competitor ever again.
@neincubed@277Enjoyer >Germany got neutered
??? West Germany had already overtaken France in every relevant category by the 60s to 70s and ended up taking the dominant role in the EU rather than France
