@axellecalcus @ULBruxelles@ExpORL_KULeuven Thank you so much again for being part of my jury! It was so nice meeting you, and receiving your valuable input on my work!
So excited to share this news 🤩 a big thank you to everyone who made this possible, from my colleagues, to my amazing supervisors and jury members, to my friends and family. I would not be here without you all 🙏🏻
Congratulations Dr. @s_vanherck ! 👩🎓 Yesterday, Shauni successfully defended her #PhD about auditory temporal processing in pre-readers at risk for #dyslexia. Great teamwork with supervisors Jan Wouters, @polortho and @VandermostenM 🙌
This paper holds a special place in my heart since it was first submitted only days before my son was born. Couldn't be happier that it is now out there ☺️
Starting the year with a new publication of our longitudinal #dyslexia study!
https://t.co/Yzo7XSRcMN
We showed that dyslexia is characterized by atypical hemispheric specialization at syllable and phoneme rates even at pre-reading age, indicating a potential causal mechanism.
This work was only possible thanks to the help of my amazing co-authors: @ec_maria, Femke Vanden Bempt, Toivo Glatz, @polortho, @VandermostenM and Jan Wouters.

Using computational modelling, we showed that learning is essential for adaptive behavior, and that learned knowledge can be protected from forgetting via neural synchronization
My research internship 4 years ago under supervision of @judith_goris and @sebraem sparked my interest in research. So happy to have contributed to this work and see it published now, and still grateful for all the opportunities I got while working on this project🧠
Our new paper is out!✨
We found reduced influence of first impressions in early sensory processing in autism, in line with faster model updating🧠

In this preprint (https://t.co/ZXGJJu4cmB), we investigated computationally how behavioral and neural metrics are modulated by two types of binding: learning and synchronization.
Learning was essential for behavioral improvement, and synchronization boosted performance.
Paper alert! Do aging adults show a decline in their ability to extract patterns from our rich environment - a skill we all use to acquire a new language? And how can we better measure this skill in patient populations? Get your free copy now: https://t.co/ilDktrZXju
Thanks to the amazing #DYSCO research team and other collaborators: Femke Vanden Bempt, @ec_maria, @JolijnVDA, Toivo Glatz, Benjamin Dieudonné, @VandermostenM @polortho, & Jan Wouters.
Really happy to share my first 1st author paper with you: https://t.co/6Zm5mKWpiN
We showed that an enhanced speech envelope training increases rise time sensitivity in pre-readers at risk for #dyslexia before the onset of reading instruction!
This is the first investigation of speech envelope enhancement as an intervention strategy for dyslexia. It allows us to improve sensitivity to a marker that has often been associated with (the development of) dyslexia, at a crucial period in development.
The 1st paper of our #dysco intervention study in children at risk for #dyslexia by Femke Vanden Bempt is out! Our results showed that GraphoGame Flemish provided a head start on early literacy skills in at risk children 📝 (@ec_maria@JolijnVDA@VandermostenM @polortho)

Check out my soon to be husband's first paper in which they showed that alpha and theta frequency oscillations, although both involved in learning, operate on distinct timescales in @EJNeuroscience 🧠
Excited to share my first paper🧠accepted and available in @EJNeuroscience
