1. K. Armstrong, the BSP Tamil Nadu state president and a prominent Dalit leader, was assassinated in July 2024.
While the Madras High Court ordered a CBI probe in late 2024, the previous state administration opposed the transfer, leading to a Supreme Court stay in November 2025.

The TVK government has cleared the institutional roadblocks to facilitate the CBI investigation

2. Kavin Selvaganesh, a 25-year-old Dalit IT professional, was murdered in an honour killing in Tirunelveli in July 2025. The prime accused’s mother, S. Krishnakumari (a suspended police sub-inspector), managed to evade arrest for 10 months under the previous DMK regime, despite multiple court directives ordering her capture.
