A really interesting thing is *someone* used to criticize how high strung I was & how strict &/or short I could be with the children & how frustrated I would get when they hadn’t eaten or I couldn’t find a single pair of their shoes when we needed to leave the house
But I legit got so chill recently, want to know how I did it??
I stopped keeping my house spotless
I stopped making sure there is always proper groceries
I stopped replacing household supplies as soon as they run out
I stopped cooking dinner
I stopped bathing the kids
I stopped having them brush their teeth
I stopped packing the swim bag
I stopped buying the gifts for the birthday parties
I stopped gardening
I stopped washing the dishes
I stopped keeping all the laundry folded & the drawers all tidy
I stopped cleaning the pee from the bathroom floor where the guys always pee
I take the kids all day & when dad is out of town, but when he is home I am still at home, but I am answering my emails, working in my office, washing my hair, taking a long phone call, playing the guitar, playing with the kids, being the Fun Parent
And guess who gets to pick up the slack??
And guess who has started getting frustrated & short with the children? Guess who is agro about the schedule?
Guess who is having to track down the always missing goggles & pack the swim bag? Guess who has been staying up after everyone at night putting things away? Guess who is scouring the backyard when they’re running late for a class because the children have no shoes? Guess who doesn’t have cream for their coffee in the morning & who looks in the fridge saying “WHY DON’T WE HAVE ANYTHING TO MAKE FOR DINNER??” & then makes something & then gets frustrated with the children when they refuse to eat it
It’s really easy to be chill when someone else is taking care of the ins & outs of managing a home & family
Men should not be working in nurseries. Spare me the “not all men” replies. When we are talking about very young children, safeguarding has to outweigh feelings. The risk is simply too high.
Mr. Secretary-General, when last month the Islamic Republic slaughtered tens of thousands of Iranians in two days, your response was to congratulate the murderers on the Islamic Revolution anniversary while your organization elevated them to multiple U.N. and human rights bodies.
To you, Zohran Mamdani! You stayed quiet when we have faced massacre, when Islamic Republic assassins were sent here in New York to kill us, stay quiet now!
STOP lecturing us Iranians about peace.
I don’t feel safe in New York listening to someone like you, Mamdani, who sympathizes with the regime that killed more than 30,000 unarmed Iranians in less than 24 hours. You talk about “safety” of this beautiful city? Listen carefully; Safety without justice means nothing.
We Iranians do not allow you to lecture us about war while you had nothing to say when the Islamic Republic shot schoolgirls and blinded more than 10,000 innocent people in the streets. You were busy celebrating the hijab while women of my beloved country Iran were jailed and raped by Islamic Security forces for removing it. And NOW you find your voice to defend the regime? No. I will not let you claim the moral high ground.
The people of Iran want to be free. Where were you when they needed solidarity?
New York belongs to people who stand against terrorism not those who excuse it.
This city is stronger than fear.
Stronger than propaganda.
Stronger than you think.
Brave Iranian girls make a statement of strength to the world.
They are part of the movement to free Iran. But need help. And give the universal signal asking for it.
Help is on its way...
Hopefully, they will be free. Soon.
Today, let us remember Atefeh who was hanged for “crimes against chastity”.
She was 16 years old and she’d been raped.
Death to the misogynist monsters of the Islamic Republic.
Long live Iran.
