This is a footpath opposite to the Tata Communications building. just a 2 mins walk from Flora Fountain.
4 kilometers away, MMRDA will spend more than 2x the annual budget of Nagpur Municipal Corporation to add just 4 lanes of road (underground) to chase the elusive goal of stoppage free travel for mostly cars. Yeah we say stoppage free because signal free doesn't mean stoppage free when everybody drives a car and the signal free road is jammed.
How about fixing this footpath? It has been like this for years. Saw an elderly twist his ankle here.
By spending less than 1% of this one tunnel's budget, BMC was able to provide 5 great quality footpaths including the best ones ones we saw in Dadar & Chembur #CommunityWalks. And they ARE of international quality. We can attest to that fact.
Lets not keep appeasing the vehicle owners at the cost of us pedestrians. We emit 0 pollution. We cause negligible damage to the infra we use & we don't take up valuable space in the city so starved of space that we dig up the few parks we have, just to bury our cars. Cars which mind you, do nothing but sit there for 22 out of 24 hours in the day when they are not being driven.

Car traffic has taken over our public space.
Cities have become machines.
But breaking this status quo is possible!

Yet there’s still no honest way to say NYC is “bike friendly”. Everyone loves easy talk of numbers, but so many “protected” bike lanes look like this every day, and absolutely no one is tackling or working this problem @NYCMayor
"In the 1960s, urban planners were convinced cars had to get everywhere. And everywhere fast. Today they rather dedicate valuable city center space to people."
