@besttrousers I thought Dean's point was "we say don't worry about AI taking your job because we'll then be rich enough to provide UBI"
UBI can replace the income but does nothing to fulfill the desire for productive work.
Whether UBI has a disincentive to work or not is besides the point.
@robinhanson@Croc_411 The link wherein you state without support a 10% prior on each stage.
Then find many disagree with that prior.
Then run a poll that does not support 10%.
The link shows your prior is the outlier and does not have arguments to show why everyone else is wrong.
@Yourdadsfriend3 There is only traffic behind the bikes, not in front.
Everyone is mad when someone blocks all lanes going much slower than traffic would otherwise go.
In fact it's so obvious it's illegal.
Florida Statute 316.2065(6)(a)
@tracewoodgrains I agree in theory, but in practice spending 12c to deliver 12c seems like a bad choice (and that is using e.g. Venmo, using checks would cost ~50c).
3 is better b/c we semi-arbitarily don't pay some.
Maybe best would be lottery of X% such that minimum $1 payout acheived?
@TPCarney Typically this happens when they restrict the number of tubes. They are waiting for the rider to hand over the tube so they can take it to the top.
@seanluomdphd@jakozloski "Luxury experience during healthcare is unrelated to healthcare itself"
If 2 drugs have equal outcomes but 1 has unpleasant side effects, does that not matter to you? What if the no SE drug costs more?
How is driving 1 hour to your weekly infusion different?
@seanluomdphd@jakozloski Does it not matter if 1 patient gets his infusion in his home and the other has to drive to the hospital?
To the patient it does. And the rich one gets the better care.
This is true across every aspect of healthcare. You think a patient doesn't prefer direct care over consult?
@seanluomdphd@jakozloski The billionaire gets the doctor to come to his house, gets the nicest rooms when at the hospital, can fly private to go to the best cancer hospital to see the top specialsist, etc.
Lots of ways money improves medical care. It just doesn't mean you can cure your cancer.
@bakermind@angie_rasmussen I think many people take seriously the idea that AI may enable the creation of enhanced/modified viruses.
Is an enhanced sars/mers virus really more like the spaghetti monster?
I'd love to learn that is true.
@GregThomson__@angie_rasmussen I don't understand the joke.
I'm a non-expert trying to figure out, from an expert I follow, what is wrong with the chart.
