My neighbour has made these solargraphs over the woodland behind our house. A single long exposure. The top line is summer solstice, the bottom line is winter solstice. Lines in between are a day each = the sun’s path. Dark lines are cloudy days. Brilliant. Left 2021. Right 2022.

Recent droughts in Europe once again made visible the "Hunger Stones" in some Czech and German rivers. These stones were used to mark desperately low river levels that would forecast famines. This one, in Elbe river, is from 1616 and says: "If you see me, cry"
