Words matter. Some scholars seem to think that India should digest the insults, abuses and slights by Trump and his minions, and grovel before the US president to seal a favourable deal. I am sorry. If you are a scholar or a policymaker or even a diplomat holding this view, you should climb down from your ivory tower and smell the coffee.
For better or worse, this is a nation-state that suffered the humiliation of slavery and colonialism. Never again. Even if we have to suffer. The Indian on the street instinctively understands this. Every politician, who deal with the masses understands this. Elites might not. That's okay.
