BRICS Summit 2026 से पहले ‘रिपब्लिक ऑफ बलूचिस्तान’ ने 11 सदस्य देशों को खुला पत्र भेजकर बलूचिस्तान के राष्ट्रीय दर्जे, स्वतंत्रता और आत्मनिर्णय के अधिकार के सवाल को Summit के एजेंडे में शामिल करने की अपील की है. पत्र में BRICS देशों के साथ राजनयिक, आर्थिक, सुरक्षा और समुद्री सहयोग की संभावनाओं पर भी जोर दिया गया है.

Pakistan’s airstrikes on Surab, Balochistan, killing more than 20 people, including children, expose a fundamental imbalance of power: a heavily armed occupying state controls the skies of occupied Balochistan while a defenceless civilian population has no means to protect itself from aerial bombardment.

This is precisely when the principle of civilian protection must mean something.

In 2011, the UN Security Council authorised a no-fly zone over Libya to protect civilians from attacks by the state.
If international protection is universal, it cannot be applied selectively.

Baloch civilians deserve protection from airstrikes. The international community must impose a no-fly zone over Balochistan.

BBC Urdu is not merely reporting ISPR anymore, it increasingly appears to be amplifying the Pakistani military’s narrative on Balochistan.

Time and again, ISPR’s version is published as the story, while the voices of Baloch locals, families, witnesses, independent journalists and those directly affected by military operations are absent or marginalised.

Reporting what ISPR claims is journalism. Repeating the state’s security narrative without independently challenging, verifying or contextualising it is stenography.

The BBC is a British public broadcaster whose credibility rests on independent journalism. Its Urdu service should not become a distribution channel through which Pakistan’s military narrative reaches millions of Urdu-speaking audiences under the credibility of the BBC brand.

If the BBC cannot independently verify an ISPR claim, say so. If local voices contradict it, report them. If access restrictions prevent independent reporting, disclose that.

The enforced disappearance of Jeeyand Baloch, a student political activist and Asif Baloch along with his friends— who were subjected to enforced disappearances a week earlier— is concerning. Baloch students are facing a serious challenge in this alarming period. This deliberate act of illegal acts and intimidation, marked by unstoppable numbers of enforced disappearances, is not only condemnable but highly concerning. We have always deemed such acts as unlawful and inhumane in nature and have condemned them in many cases. We believe that such conduct creates an atmosphere of fear among Baloch society, which is a clear violation of democratic practice.

We, as a student organisation, strongly believe in democracy, the law, and the justice system, and require the government to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice envisioned. We demand that all the students along with all other individuals, who have been subjected to enforced disappearances must be released safely.
