Today I was supposed to be flying to Washington DC for a conference on Catalyzing Science Advancement Policy. I feel like this conference and workshop is more important than ever and hope it gets rescheduled for the summer online.
Research flourishes in collaborative environments that promote physical and #mentalhealth, and provide a safe space for the exchange of ideas.
As a result, showing compassion, understanding, and respect is part of the definition of a successful scientist.

"she wants to know how a word can be both / a thing and an action like war and mistake"— @Eloisa_Amezcua reads her poem "Teaching My Mother English Over the Phone" on today's video! https://t.co/bCux4Vb0BB
🍻OH YESSS!!🥂Really proud of this one! Do me a favor & read: IRRATIONALITY IN WORMS! Using C.elegans & its compact nervous system (300 neurons) we discovered a simple rule that explains why animals make economically irrational decisions. Thread below 👇 https://t.co/FOpQUHYvpl
my 2 month old: i cant sleep daddy i’m afraid of frankenstein

my 3 month old: i do not. personally i find unethical and irresponsible scientific practice far more terrifying than any physical being and so should you
Hey, so, science communicators by and large prefer to not indulge in the "rationality vs emotion" dichotomy because we recognize that it's just a manifestation of the kind of superiority complexes that have traditionally held science back.
An unfortunate consequence of the arms race of scientists overhyping their work is that those manuscripts now written in a cautious & honest way acknowledging previous findings & taking care not to oversell are often editorially rejected for "not being very exciting or novel".
Ten years ago today, at a TED conference, a neuroscientist claimed that he could simulate the human brain in ten years. And, er, that didn’t happen. Here’s a look at why, and whether the goal even makes any sense. https://t.co/V4Sx7EKcJa
1.8 billion years ago, a cell consumed another cell, and because it didn't digest that cell, you are alive and able to watch today's new video! https://t.co/A6ETQAqIsj
