This city has smouldered in many ways but never like this. Almost 40 years of living in Bombay, and I swear the city has never felt this suffocated, this airless, this toxic, this close to combustion. The heat sits heavy on the chest. The air smells of burnt flesh. Buildings catch fire, it seems, almost every day - including today. I’m scared for what my children are breathing. HOW is this acceptable? Authorities, wake up. Investigate. Correct. A city cannot live on poisoned air. Our children deserve answers. They deserve clean air. They deserve to breathe.

MA fire broke out at an imitation jewellery shop in Bhuleshwar in south Mumbai early on Thursday, leading to commotion in the congested locality.

Fire brigade personnel and BEST department officials rushed to the spot and firefighting operations were underway. Fire engines remained stationed at the site as efforts continued to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established. There were no reports of injuries yet.

Garbage dumped on Mumbai’s roads is more than an eyesore — it’s a civic problem the financial capital shouldn’t have to live with.

A day after @AndheriLOCA flagged massive dust pollution being caused during demolition work at a site in the main Lokhandwala market in, Andheri (West), @mybmcwardKW issued a stop-work notice to the developer on October 19 for failing to comply with air pollution mitigation guidelines. A penalty of Rs 35,000 was also imposed.

The video showed dust spreading across the surrounding locality during demolition work on Saturday morning. Residents complained that the dust was affecting people living in the neighbourhood as well as pedestrians.

#WATCH | Kota, Rajasthan: Regarding the firing on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, Kota SP Tejaswani Gautam says, "...This morning, we received information, prompting us to activate our team. We learned that the three primary suspects involved in the firing were travelling by train and were due to arrive in Kota. Acting on this information, our team, within just 15 minutes, set a trap and thoroughly searched the entire train. Through this swift action by the Kota City Police, we have apprehended all three suspects responsible for the firing. We will soon hand the suspects over to the Mumbai Police. The names of these three individuals are: Rehan, alias Sukka, from Sonipat, Haryana; Hritik Kurmi, alias Roshan, from Begusarai, Bihar, who had been residing in Mumbai, Maharashtra, for the past few years; and one minor. We have apprehended and detained all three, and we will now hand them over to the Mumbai Police."
