This reminds me of a story.
Three pilots were scheduled to fly sorties on an overcast morning with thunderstorms in the area.
The first pilot took off and flew straight through the storm.
The second pilot took off, assessed the conditions as he approached the weather, and decided to turn back.
The third pilot never took off at all.
The difference lay not in courage, but in experience.
The first pilot was a trainee. He didn’t yet understand how dangerous the storm could be, so he unknowingly took a massive and unnecessary risk.
The second was an experienced pilot. He had the judgment to recognize the danger once he was close enough to assess it, and wisely chose to return.
The third was a seasoned instructor. Years of experience allowed him to assess the conditions before even leaving the ground. He knew there was nothing to be gained by taking off in the first place.
Experience doesn’t just help you make better decisions—it helps you avoid situations where difficult decisions become necessary.
Ryan Giggs, at 39 years old against Real Madrid, displayed more passion and dedication playing for Manchester United than the current bunch of highly paid, stupid, lazy players.
My “unsafe ride experience” was nearly being assaulted by a self absorbed creep of a driver on 13 October. @ola_supports@Olacabs please do better than marking issues “resolved” by a bot. Pathetic response and zero follow up.
