@monarch_money when are we getting MCP capabilities back? I want to use AI assistants to work with my Monarch and not having it is making me look into other options when I think you have the best app. Let’s make it happen.
@jpatel41@instictlabs@Muse@bot I find it difficult to get the full value unless the agent can span across my work and personal life. Not many organizations will give the same agent I use for personal access to my corp email / context.
🚨 OBAMA ON AI: "If we are thinking about AI just in terms of how do we cure cancer or get better energy, you can do that without having agentic AI and having it just roaming free in the internet. The reason you are doing that is because you have to market a product that people will pay money for.
That’s a misalignment between what our society needs and the commercial imperatives that these companies are facing, not because necessarily they’re trying to do bad things, but because they’ve got to justify these valuations.
So, that’s one more reason why it is really important for us to have a competent government and a serious bipartisan conversation around this issue, and we have to do it fast. And I would encourage voters to pay attention to this. If somebody does not have a serious plan for how to deal with this, then they’re not meeting the moment, and you should probably look for somebody else."
I was encouraged this week to see the leaders of the frontier labs agree on the need for them to slow down the pace of AI development. Given the stakes, it’s a good and necessary first step.
But I’m even more encouraged by the growing recognition that how this powerful new technology develops should be at the center of our public debate.
I’ve been watching the progress on AI for over a decade now, and one thing that’s clear to me is that the potential impact of this technology is not overhyped. It’s also moving at lightning speed – and even faster than those who are engineering it can keep up with.
I’m not an AI accelerationist who believes it will lead to some techno-utopia, and I’m not a doomer who thinks it will inevitably lead to humanity’s destruction.
But whether this technology results in amazing breakthroughs in medicine, energy and education or unleashes huge economic disruptions, greater inequality, and potential catastrophe will depend on the choices that we make right now – choices that should be made not just by the companies involved, but by all of us.
@witty_genstein It’s compounded by this requirement to only hire in SF & NY. The comp packages are insane and they’re settling for mediocre talent in these cities because the top talent in those cities are already taken.
@JohnnyVulture23@edzitron She was booted. You don’t get a guy like Dali in a couple days. They had to be pursuing him well before Denise left. OpenAI GTM didn’t even have comp plans for their sales people …
If you’re looking for sales people, SF is washed … all the AI companies that want people in the office are hiring mediocre talent because they’re in SF or NYC… there are hybrid/remote sales killers everywhere because guess what … customers are everywhere and distributed and the great migration during covid was real.
@edzitron This isn’t rocket science. The CRO was booted … she came from Salesforce … everyone she brought with her is leaving because they know their days are numbered. Similarly a new CRO is coming … and he’s going to bring in his trusted leadership crew.
Former CNN Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr returned to the network last night to suggest Trump's flight out of Turkey was illegal, "Because my question is this: If it was not safe for the president to be on that flight, how was it safe for the media to be on that flight and to be lied to, not to be told the truth? Yet, again, to be lied to.
Because the thing is, it was the U.S. military flying the plane. The U.S. military does not put civilians unknowingly at risk. The president was gone; he wasn't being threatened anymore, presumably, but the civilians on board were still under threat, and the U.S. military under orders flew that plane. Somebody needs to tell me why that's a legal order. Because that's not what the U.S. military does."
@Houseofyogi Can you please point out the part in the constitution to that guarantees the right to affordable groceries?
Until you do, this is fake outrage.
@ShardiB2 We subsidize gas, we subsidize corn … we subsidize ballroom renovations for dear leader… I think subsidizing basic food staples so they’re affordable is the least of our concerns.
The CEO of StubHub exposed in SEC documents to own a hedge fund thats scalping millions of tickets on StubHub making a fortune
Everything is a scam
“StubHub bills itself as an online marketplace for fans where they can buy and sell tickets, but it turns out that StubHub CEO himself also has a hedge fund that is scalping millions of dollars worth of its own tickets”
“The company went public on the New York Stock Exchange last fall. They had to file documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission, and in those SEC filings, we find some interesting information. The CEO, Eric Baker, actually owns and manages a hedge fund by the name of Andro Capital.
Its business: selling millions of dollars worth of tickets on StubHub — So essentially, StubHub and its CEO are in the business of mass scalping”
Here’s a step by step of how the scam works
- StubHub CEO’s Andro Capital buys large numbers of tickets, sometimes in bulk from primary sellers, other brokers and events
- They then list and sell those same tickets on StubHub at much higher prices
- When fans buy the tickets, Andro makes a profit on the price difference, this is the scalping markup
- StubHub helps them by handling the listing, pricing and delivery of the tickets, sometimes with special arrangements or lower fees for Andro
The result is millions of dollars in ticket sales flow through Andro on StubHub, and the profits go back to the hedge fund that StubHub CEO Baker owns and manages
It means with his big money and influence he can move in early, gets the tickets for events, then mark them and rob everyone blind
