Today, we’re spotlighting Dr. Jürgen Schmied, CEO and co-founder of Massive Photonics, whose leadership is central to our goal of enabling scientists solve critical research questions using DNA-PAINT technologies.
With a background in Biophysics, Microscopy, and DNA nanotechnology combined with a sharp sense for innovation and business, Jürgen brings both visionary leadership and technical insights to the table.
Jürgen earned his PhD in Physics from the Technische Universität Braunschweig, where he developed imaging standards for super-resolution microscopy using fluorescently labeled DNA origami. In 2014, he co-founded @GATTAquant, known for its high-precision fluorescent nanorulers and standards for microscope characterization. In 2019, he co-founded Massive Photonics to make DNA-PAINT tools widely accessible to the scientific community.
Today, Jürgen guides our strategy, direction, and operations, ensuring researchers have powerful, precise, and easy-to-use tools they need to uncover biology at the nanoscale.
