Very proud to share this new paper from my PhD with @OxfordHearing in @NatureComms. We show a new subcortical route for cortical communication (#midbrain and #thalamus), used by the somatosensory system to modulate sound processing in thalamus and cortex https://t.co/gZ2sNVUTcL

Fascinated by learning, vision, and/or neural population codes? See our new paper, which shows that training on a 2AFC visual task sparsens and orthogonalizes the representations of task-informative stimuli in V1. w/ @MatteoCarandini and @kennethd_harris

The brain meets a myriad behavioral demands with a limited number of neurons. Does it use the same neurons across behaviors? We addressed this question in mouse parietal cortex, where neurons are thought to be multitaskers. The results surprised us… 1/n

In case anyone was still doubting who this government is working for. Endlessly irresponsible, shamelessly unfair #ToryBritain

This week-end, there was a fire in the intensive care unit of a hospital in my hometown, which was caring for COVID-19 patients. Ten of them were killed. This was not an accident, but a preventable tragedy. https://t.co/aReevOOE7Z

Can the media please stop describing the counting of votes as an ongoing contest - "It's going to take a Herculean effort for the President to overcome this lead"? There is NOTHING Trump can do - except cheat - to change the what is happening.

[Samuel Picard @samuelpcrd]

@SW_Help I won’t be able to do that until right before the departure. Is there any other way to figure out whether the train has spaces for 2 bikes?

[Samuel Picard @samuelpcrd]

@SW_Help is it possible reserve 2 bike spaces on your 19:26 Salisbury to Basingstoke service today?

[Samuel Picard @samuelpcrd]

@SW_Help Thank you. Can I call that ticket office to ask?

[Samuel Picard @samuelpcrd]

@schneiderneuro We placed the chiller and all electronic control systems in a separate room and put the tubing through a hole in the wall. The only noise we have to tolerate is the 8kHz res scanner!
