A few days in Norfolk with visits to Snetisham RSPB, A decade since I've enjoyed a mass of Red Knots (30K) Monday had less people & nice light. The new hide is by far the nicest hide I have ever been in with great design, comfort & work by @BiotopeUK @RSPBEngland
This Ruff,1 of 3 present at Fishtail Lagoon, is the dark individual, which at a distance looks black but when seen closer in good light U can clearly see this individual has some purple sheen going on especially to the Scapulars, @HOSbirding@LymKeyRanger@BirdAwareSolent
"Yellow on Yellow" Yellow Wagtail from earlier this week, there has been a small / local dispersal of males due to the arrival / influx of females, birds seem to have paired up & moved on to territories now. One of my favourite summer migrants.

I was just about to start counting Snipe on the back of Fishtail Lagoon, Pennington when this Spar flew in low and took out this Snipe, I have not seen a Spar take a Snipe before let alone capture it through the view finder, Also Water Pipit, LRP & drake Garganey present this PM.
With the dry & bright weather predicted I decided to try to get some more shots of the Purple Sandpipers showing some purple sheen, image taken this morning 1 of 16 present today, also nice to watch them feeding & bathing in the Chewton Bunny stream.
I was recently asked to provide some photos for a forth coming book & so I had to dig through some old files & discovered this Saunders Gull photo from Yangkou, Rudong,China,May 2011, a group of 12 came in calling & landed on the shoreline right in front of me, what a Gull!
Rewind 4 years to the day,I was watching this Snowy Owl on Eday Island, Orkney which was only my second ever, then a short flight to North Ron for the Northern Harrier which was also seen well,seems like a long time being able to fly and travel freely,hope normality returns soon
A pre-lockdown wander trying to see some local waders provided this colour ringed Greenshank, originally ringed in autumn 2014 in Chichester Harbour has been recorded every winter since & allows some very close views if U just sit & wait for it to pass by rather than to chase it.
After working 14hr days,13 days in a row, then 2 days off and working straight through again the missus made me get out for a walk locally with her & it was so gud 2 get sum fresh air & pap this Purple Sand actually showing some purple sheen in the afternoon sun 1 of 6 present.
