🚢Coastal shipping = half the global maritime market.
Still not part of most climate plans.
Why?
It’s the easiest place to test electric ships, green fuels & zero-emission tech.
Ports could be climate hubs — not just cargo stops.
Time to plug it in. ⚡🌍

Maritime Security and Seafarer Welfare Dialogue: CISF Senior Officials Meet with DG Shipping Shri Shyam Jagannathan (IAS) at DGS Headquarters
@dgship_goi @CISFHQrs
In a significant step towards enhancing port security and addressing the welfare of seafarers, a high-level meeting was convened today between senior officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping). The meeting, held at DG Shipping headquarters, saw the participation of Shri Sudhir Kumar, Additional Director General (ADG-South) CISF, and Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Inspector General (IG) CISF, who engaged in critical discussions with DG Shri Shyam Jagannathan and other key officials from DG Shipping.
The primary focus of the dialogue centered around the implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, which is vital for strengthening port security and ensuring smooth maritime operations. Both parties also deliberated on key issues affecting seafarers, including their challenges at air and sea ports, as well as their welfare during shore leave.
The meeting underscored the need for closer collaboration between the CISF and DG Shipping to ensure that India’s ports remain secure while simultaneously addressing the welfare of the nation’s seafaring community. By streamlining security protocols and improving support systems, the dialogue aims to contribute to the overall safety and well-being of seafarers, an essential part of global maritime operations.
This development marks a significant step forward in India's commitment to robust maritime security and the protection of its maritime workforce.
