15 days and counting. Sonam Wangchuk is a man of remarkable grit. While most politicians retreat to cooler climes in summer, here is someone showing what Gandhian-style, peaceful resistance is truly about. You don’t have to agree with everything he says, but for sheer courage and conviction, he deserves a SALUTE! 💪🏻
And an aside: when Anna Hazare fasted, we in the media covered it round the clock. Sonam Wangchuk’s 15-day protest? Barely a mention. Says a lot about what we choose to amplify and how much things have changed since 2011. 🙏

खूप अस्वस्थ वाटतंय…

१४ दिवस झाले, सोनम वांगचुक उपोषणावर आहेत… पण आपल्या निर्दयी सरकारला ना त्यांच्याशी बोलण्याची तसदी घ्यायची आहे, ना त्यांच्या आंदोलनाची साधी दखल घ्यायची आहे.

इतका राग येतोय….असं वाटतंय, या सत्ताधाऱ्यांना खेचून आणून १४ दिवस उपोषणावर बसवावं. उपोषण म्हणजे काय असतं, भूक म्हणजे काय असते, शरीराची आणि मनाची तगमग काय असते, याची जाणीव तरी या संवेदनाशून्य लोकांना होईल.

लोकशाहीत सरकार जनतेचं ऐकतं. पण इथे संदेश स्पष्ट आहे

“तुम्ही न्याय मागा, उपोषण करा, जगा किंवा मरा… आम्हाला काहीच फरक पडत नाही. कारण सत्ता आमच्याकडे आहे, आणि तुम्ही आमचं काहीच बिघडवू शकत नाही.”

ही केवळ एका आंदोलनाची उपेक्षा नाही… हा लोकशाहीच्या आत्म्याचा अपमान आहे.
