Nov #soybeans closed +23c today at a new high $12.25
Since the 4th of Jul weekend, new crop beans have rallied 75c, supported by energy markets, biofuel demand, China’s return & less-than-ideal US weather threatening an already-snug 26/27 balance sheet

There is an enhanced risk today across the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes, where all severe hazards are possible and could be on the more destructive side.
A strong shortwave amplifying toward Lake Superior will drive an intense jet in the mid-levels across a warm sector featuring steep lapse rates and plenty of moisture. The afternoon evolution of storms will heavily rely on the track of morning convection originating in the Dakotas. There remains 3 completely different scenarios as to what could happen today:
Scenario 1, which is the most likely, is that the morning storms track down the Mississippi River Valley, where the resulting outflow will restrict maximum destabilization to western and southwestern areas. Supercells will likely initiate around 4pm CDT along this corridor, posing a threat for all hazards, before bowing into an evening mesoscale convective system.
Scenario 2 is that extensive morning stratiform rain prevents recovery in the boundary layer, mitigating the afternoon severe threat. (aka the best case scenario).
Scenario 3, is that mornings dissipate rapidly, allowing for a lot of moisture return, and thus yielding widespread, intense supercell development (aka the worst case scenario).
Should instability this afternoon fully recover, extreme shear and very high storm relative helicity will support discrete supercells capable of producing very large hail (potentially >2" in diameter), in addition to strong (EF-2+) tornadoes. Storms will rapidly grow linear and introduce a widespread damaging wind threat into the overnight hours.
Elsewhere, daytime heating and surface convergence along a boundary will yield moderate instability, with pulse to multicell clusters posing primarily a threat for damaging winds through sunset.

🔹 #Wheat is the divergence of the day: #Momentum flags MAX LONG while the managed money net still sits −6K short, even after adding 9K, the money hasn't crossed zero on its own signal. #Corn flipped to SMALL LONG at +77K (+19K, biggest add on the board Friday) and the tape agrees: Dec corn 474'6 through R2 474, eyeing 480. #Soybeans hold MAX LONG at +83K (+8K) with Nov beans at 1220'0 clearing R2 1216. #Soyoil is the crowd at 88% of its historical range, most stretched position on the board, with KC wheat right behind at 80%. The #cattle contradiction rolls on: LIVE CATTLE labeled MAX SHORT with the net still +86K long, 60% of range. Slate today: Canada Jun CPI 7:30 AM CT, export #inspections 10:00 AM CT, Crop Progress 4:00 PM CT. ECMWF splits the belt, #heat holds the west Plains but a 1.3-2.0 inch band sets up central #Nebraska to NW #Missouri while the east belt cools. Breakouts everywhere the labels lean #long, but wheat's money is still short, something gives this week, IMO. Have a blessed day & best of luck to everyone!
#Corn slipped a point to 67% G/E this week 🌽 #Soybeans picked one up, 66% 🌱
Real story is up north, #NorthDakota and #Colorado corn both dropped 10, #SouthDakota down 8 📉 That stretch is hurting 🥵
#NorthCarolina finally caught a break after bleeding for five straight weeks. Beans jumped 13 points to 53% 🚀 Corn's still rough at 17% but at least it moved the right direction for once ✅
#Iowa looks about as good as it gets right now, corn back at 80, beans at 79
Silking hit 59%, running ahead of normal ⏩ #Wheat harvest about three-quarters done 🌾
Tracker below 👇
🌽 A large portion of the U.S. corn crop moved through pollination during last week's heat wave, though ratings fell only 1 pt versus the expected 2-pt decline.
Soybean conditions rose 1 pt against an expected 1-pt decline, but spring wheat ratings landed below all estimates.
📈 Chicago November soybean futures surged to new yearly highs on Monday. Demand, biofuels, U.S. weather and geopolitical uncertainty have helped lift prices more than 7% this month.

🌽🌾 U.S. Wheat and French Corn are now the most expensive global commodities based on price and hedge fund positioning data. 📈
☀️ Hot & dry weather
🚢 Black Sea export disruptions
🛢️ Higher energy prices
Great story. Can the market keep feeding the Grain bulls? 🤔
📅 Soybean Market Summary – 17 July 2026
🌱 Soybean Futures
📈 August CBOT soybean futures rose 0.75% to $12.04/bu (from $11.95/bu).
🇨🇳 Strong Chinese buying (7–13 cargoes purchased in the past 48 hours) continues to support prices.
☀️ Extreme heat forecasts across the US Western Plains add weather-related supply risks.
⚠️ Trump's comments on China further boosted market risk sentiment.
🛢️ Soybean Oil
🚀 CBOT soyoil futures jumped 3.3% to 74.81¢/lb (from 72.42¢/lb).
🛢️ Brent crude climbed to $88/bbl, driven by escalating Middle East tensions.
🚢 Strait of Hormuz disruptions and Red Sea shipping risks continue to underpin vegetable oil markets.
🌾 Soybean Meal
📉 Soymeal futures fell 0.84% to $320.20/short ton.
🇨🇳 China's cash soymeal sales reached 63,500 MT on Friday.
🇧🇷 Brazil Market
📉 FOB Paranaguá September basis eased 2¢/bu to 126¢/bu over Sep futures.
📦 Around 4 million MT of soybeans traded across Brazil this week.
💰 FAS Paranaguá prices increased to 146 Reais/bag.
🇨🇳 China Market
📉 Dalian September soyoil futures down 0.41% to 8,535 yuan/MT.
📉 Dalian September soymeal futures down 0.20% to 3,061 yuan/MT.
🚢 10 US Gulf October soybean cargoes sold to China at 303–305¢/bu over Nov CBOT.
🌍 Key Takeaway
✅ Soybean and soybean oil markets remain well supported by strong Chinese demand, US weather concerns, and geopolitical tensions lifting energy prices, despite weakness in soybean meal.
Heat looks to be a problem into August, mainly nighttime heat.
Rain will be hit or miss, which is usual for summer.
Crops stressed the most - and those crops that rest-on the-edge of failure - are in MN, ND, SD, NE, KS, and western IA.
🌽 Fresh 8–14 day outlook (valid July 24–30) and the #Corn Belt just caught a break.
🌡️ The #heat ridge stays parked over the #Southwest and #Plains fringe, the core belt sits near normal, with below-normal temps clipping the Great Lakes and eastern belt.
💧 #Precip runs near normal across the heart of the belt, with above-normal chances bleeding into the eastern edge.
📉 Bottom line: no heat dome over #Iowa and #Illinois during the tail end of #pollination. That’s a grain-fill friendly map, and the #weather premium has little to feed on here. Need a good #rain… 🌧️ 🌽
