PhD student working on sharks migration and ecology. Enthousiast with marine mobile species, modelling, spatial analysis and public policies. Views are my own.

New paper on vertical movement of #eels on the #shelf in @STOTEN_journal. Not only did we observe the well-known DVM, eels also had reverse DVM and circa-tidal patterns. Behaviour probably linked to bio-energetics, navigation & predator avoidance. https://t.co/p4UxUZfR62
Does anyone have a good suggestion for BRUV design to estimate the abundance of benthic rays, skates and sharks in relatively shallow waters (<30 m)? Camera type, frame, bait, etc...?
Our latest assessments of marine food webs are now online shining light on the relationships between predators and prey, the way in which energy flows through marine ecosystems and the way in which ecosystems function in the North-East Atlantic. https://t.co/LiymIceem9 #QSR2023

How well do we understand & monitor bottom trawling in coastal areas?
We examined 12 yrs of monitoring data & found that while trawling impacts on seabed fauna were clear, many widely-used coastal monitoring indices did not detect effects of trawling:
