Mr. President: FEMA has good people but is true that the system has to change. Puerto Rico, North Carolina, Louisiana and many others went through devastating events that no one was ready for and the system was in no place to adapt….we need adaptation and boots on the ground by people that are local that know the way and are supported by the Federal government….From search and rescue, to health and medicines, to food and water and beyond we need smarter powerful but simple ways to do it.
Natural disasters will continue to get stronger and more frequent….is no time to waste in improving the way America prepares. Emergency response & recovery is and should always be bipartisan…we the people! @WhiteHouse@fema

The Atlantic hurricane season remains mostly on pause, and one contributing factor is the farther north track of tropical waves coming off Africa. This in turn has resulted in much above average rainfall for the normally very dry Saharan Desert. De-desertification in progress? It might in theory have long term implications for less busy hurricane seasons in the future.

So many people are dropping out because grants don't cover enough of the price of a new roof, and discounts offered by insurance are puny... but the solution is to give the same size grants to people in certain places who were already eligible for the first round? 🧐
Louisiana is changing its fortified roof grant program in a bid to accelerate the strengthening of homes in the places hit hardest by the insurance crisis. Story: https://t.co/gWYmV9bvTS
