You'll want to be sitting down for this bit.
Water companies are currently £82.7 billion in debt, have paid themselves £85 billion in dividends, leak over a trillion of litres of water per year, dump sewage for almost 4 million hours per year, have been convicted of over 1,200 criminal acts since 1989 and an average of 35% of your bill goes on nothing but paying more interest and yet more dividends.
And not a single company has ever lost their operating licence. 👇
@AaronBastani It's not necessarily about country and party in some selfless way. You can be entirely party-minded and still think that strategically whatever (within reason) gets us to PR is the path to take.
Same for the LDs. Burnham should double down on PR if he wants a clear run.
@thevillagehaul@GreenJennyJones The point being that he will be in power and can actually deliver PR. Without it we will likely see a Reform (+/- Tory) government in 2029, and all hope of PR (or anything, really) will be out the window for another 5-10 years.
We have to think strategically here!
"I now have a full understanding"
"I have full information"
"I have enough context now"
Come on @claudeai@bcherny
you're missing a trick here.

There is an escape route for Labour from certain disaster at the general election: use their Commons majority to ram through PR. It’s cynical, + they’d never govern alone again, but it locks Reform out of No10. The left (Lab, Gr, LD) still have a majority over the right in the UK
@mehdirhasan It's too late. @LondonLabour have shown their true colours - so desparate to save their necks from the Green surge that they're happy to punch down on a good person who represents everything they should stand for, but no longer do.
I hope Londoners take appropriate action.
This deserves to be circulated.
A former Red Cross staff member got in touch.
She testifies about @ZackPolanski's role.
For transparency: her name is Brea Thibodeau.
The whole thing is a desperate smear.
@DavidLammy You know when you use the word "greener" you are referencing Green politics, not just some generic enviromentalism, don't you? The term was brought from Australia via Die Grünen in Germany in the 70's. Before that it was just a colour.
Want Green? Vote Green! 💚

@DrSimEvans Despite the benefits, the biggest problem with current heat pump dryers is they aren't economically reparable if the sealed system fails - either compressor or gas leakage.
Just had to CRA claim on an 18 month old one (Beko). AO dealt with it brilliantly but what a waste!
I’m not sure why we still have a monarch. It seems like a medieval anachronism to me; a demonstration of inherited status and the the pinnacle of an entrenched aristocracy. And I’m really not sure why our monarch has gone to the US to stand next to another man with too much power, land and money.
