Further more: PPL and Novex own a repertoire of sound recordings which they license to users WITHOUT being registered as copyright societies under the Copyright Act, 1957. They charge a license fee for use each time and that is based on a math ₹1.50 per square foot. Go figure.

It is absolutely crazy the various licences one has to procure to have a simple party in a hotel in Goa (especially) and the insane amount you have to shell out for the same.

You could get a DJ & set up for as low as 35-50 k (no upper limit) but to get a PPL license, IPRS license, Novex license, special license to do anything on the beach, if the hotel falls in a village then a panchayat NOC and some more - all this can set you back by close to 4-5 lakhs rs. One understands that one needs to pay for music usage but all this needs to consolidate in one place. All these currently need to be procured at different places & sources. The go-between guys, the wheeler-dealers, the delays in sometimes getting the actual license (although they claim to be online) all gives rise to opportunity of exploitation.

Fast Track Immigration for #Indians and #OCI at Indian Airports! Great initiative!

I just signed up for India's own version of Global entry - the Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Traveller Program available to Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders. This is going to be a blessing for frequent fliers like me.
Here is a step by step guide:
Step 1 - Sign up by entering your mobile phone number and OTP received thereafter at https://t.co/OfiJ5l8meW
Step 2 - Verify your email by generating an OTP and setup a password thereafter.
Step 3 - Login with your email and password. You will arrive at this main screen.
Step 4 - Click on 'Apply Online'. It will ask you to pick if you are an Indian citizen or an OCI cardholder.
Step 5 - Complete the form (as seen below for an Indian passport holder) with details as found in your passport. You will be asked where you would like to submit your biometrics. I picked the immigration check point in #Delhi - @DelhiAirport. You can do this at Immigration check points at numerous airports in India. You may also choose to do this at a Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
Step 6 - Upload a photo along with first and last page of passport.
Step 7 - Once done, you will receive confirmation by email of the same.
Step 8 - This is where it gets tricky as a payment needs to be made. I tried to generate a challan and it said zero rupees. So I guess I am good to go.
The application will be processed by authorities and intimation of when biometrics may be submitted will be sent by email.

This is big. By removing rule 7, this changes the game. Every international credit card transaction, from today, made by an individual => will be under LRS limits.

Means 5% TCS till July 1. And 20% Tax collected at source after that. (Can be adjusted against other taxes)
