Instead of taking a job immediately, I worked at my parents’ tiffin hotel and cleared our debts. I then spent a year working in the Gulf before finally landing a software job in Hyderabad.

Just when life seemed stable, COVID took my mother in 2021.

I had to leave college at 17 and drive an auto to support my family. I studied at night under the auto’s headlight and cleared my subjects in First Class.

Later, I cracked EAMCET, joined BTech, and completed my degree with the help of my parents and hostel friends.

Even new clothes during festivals were a luxury, but I always believed education could change our lives.

Just days after I entered Intermediate 1st year, my father met with a major truck accident. To save his life, we sold our 20 acres of agricultural land.

I was born into a family of four children. My father was a truck driver, and my mother ran a small tiffin stall, waking up at 3 AM every day to feed us. We grew up knowing what poverty felt like.

నాన్న ఊరిలో ఒంటరిగా మిగిలాడు. పెళ్లి, కూతురు, హైదరాబాద్ ఖర్చులు, EMIs, నాన్న బాధ్యత—జీవితం మళ్లీ పోరాటమైంది.

ఈరోజు కూడా సమస్యలు ఉన్నాయి. కానీ నేను ఆగను.

అమ్మకు ఇచ్చిన మాట కోసం నాన్నను చూసుకుంటాను.

ఆ తర్వాత గల్ఫ్ వెళ్లి ఏడాది కష్టపడి తిరిగి వచ్చి హైదరాబాద్‌లో సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్ ఉద్యోగం సంపాదించాను.

జీవితం స్థిరపడుతుందనుకున్న సమయంలో 2021 కరోనా రెండో వేవ్‌లో అమ్మను కోల్పోయాను. ఆమె చికిత్స కోసం చేసిన అప్పులు మిగిలాయి.

తర్వాత EAMCET ర్యాంక్‌తో BTechలో చేరాను. తల్లిదండ్రులు అప్పు చేసి చదివించారు. హాస్టల్‌లో డబ్బుల్లేకపోయినప్పుడు స్నేహితులు అన్నదమ్ముల్లా తోడయ్యారు. BTech పూర్తయ్యాక ఉద్యోగం కాకుండా తల్లిదండ్రుల హోటల్‌లో పనిచేసి అప్పులు తీర్చాను.

ది మిడిల్ క్లాస్ డైరీ — నా ప్రయాణం

నలుగురు పిల్లల కుటుంబంలో పుట్టాను. నాన్న ట్రక్ డ్రైవర్. అమ్మ చిన్న టిఫిన్ బండి నడుపుతూ తెల్లవారుజామున 3 గంటలకే లేచి మమ్మల్ని పెంచింది. పండగలకు కొత్త బట్టలు కొనలేని పేదరికంలో పెరిగినా, చదువుకుంటే జీవితం మారుతుందని కలలు కన్నాను.

ఇంటర్మీడియట్ మొదటి సంవత్సరం మొదలైన కొద్ది రోజులకే నాన్నకు భారీ యాక్సిడెంట్. ఆయన చికిత్స కోసం మా 20 ఎకరాల భూమిని అమ్ముకున్నాం. కాలేజీ ఆపి 17 ఏళ్లకే ఆటో నడిపాను. పగలు ఆటో… రాత్రి దాని హెడ్‌లైట్ కింద చదువు. సబ్జెక్టులన్నీ ఫస్ట్ క్లాస్‌లో పూర్తి చేశాను.
