When I visited Trump at the White House, when he said the Golan Heights belongs to Israel, I made the joke, “Why don’t you give New Jersey to the Israelis? You don’t own the Golan Heights to give, but you own New Jersey.”

I believe New Jersey is full of Democrats, and they are not voting for Trump, so it would be good to give it to the Israelis. At least this is something you own. Trump doesn’t own the Golan Heights.

Regardless of this joke, the Golan Heights is owned by its own people. It is neither the Syrian president’s, the American president’s, nor any other person’s to abandon or give up to others.

In Lucknow, India, Rizwan, a 40-year-old Muslim biryani seller, was brutally attacked after being accused of carrying prohibited beef. He suffered injuries to his head and face, while the police sent the meat for testing—meaning the truth of the accusation was still unknown when the mob attacked him.

At the same time, Hindu extremist groups continue targeting Muslim-owned meat shops, threatening people’s safety, dignity, and livelihoods.

This is bigger than a piece of meat. It is about a human life nearly destroyed because of his Muslim identity.

Any threat to the sanctity and security of the Haramain Sharifain deeply wounds the sentiments of Muslims across the world. Pakistan stands unwaveringly, shoulder to shoulder, with the Kingdom in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and the sanctity of Islam’s holiest sites.

As we celebrate Saudi National Day, I pray that Pakistan-Saudi Arabia brotherhood continues to grow from strength to strength.
