A lot of people mistake SSE (sign supported english) for #BSL (British Sign language), BSL Monitor, Cherie explains the difference.

I think Labour should look at improving services for children and families from birth to 3. It would make sure that children got a good start in life. We could be sure families start to get access to support.
Ensure…decent start…
I just need a name.
The best time to defuse the teenage time bomb is ten years before it’s due to go off! Let’s invest in support for families from pregnancy to school. We know that every £1 invested in a young life saves at least £20 in tackling the consequences of failing to do so!
@MartinGarrix@coldplay Did I dream this or did Chris M. @coldplay perform a section of this using BSL? I’m deaf but only have basic BSL and would love to have it translated back to English so I can fully appreciate which of the lyrics it was. Can anyone help? @SignatureDeaf@coldplay
@hwallop @evolvemusicuk @bbcglasto I’m sure I wasn’t the only deaf person to be absolutely blown away by the inclusiveness of this year’s Glasto coverage. With my hearing aids connected to my laptop and the BSL interpretation, I savoured every second of Coldplay’s headline event. Thanks @coldplay@SignatureDeaf 🙏
@wojciechduczmal @hwallop@bbcglasto ..fight for my right to party! Btw, it is ableist to make assumptions about disabled people and it’s audist to make assumptions from a hearing perspective about the experience of being deaf. If you’re curious, just ask. We don’t mind 🧏♀️
@wojciechduczmal @hwallop@bbcglasto ..in the gaps where I missed lyrics. I probably heard everything more clearly than the crowd. At live events, I ditch my hearing aids to reduce the crowd noise and I position myself at the front or near the sound desk to maximise sound levels. I love music and will continue to..
@wojciechduczmal @hwallop@bbcglasto I like that you put a question mark at the end, so we deafies can respond. Listening and seeing are very different things. All of us listen with our bodies not just ears. I used hearing aids connected to my laptop to listen to Coldplay at Glasto and the BSL interpreter filled..
@myjazzfanny@hwallop@bbcglasto Me! With degenerative deafness I can’t access music like I used to. I connect my hearing aids to my laptop and possibly hear better than the crowd. BSL interpretation supports my listening & when Chris Martin signed a short section of the Coldplay set, I felt included.
Happy International Day of Sign Languages!
Ever since 2018, the International Day of Sign Languages has been celebrated annually on 23 September as a part of the International Week of the Deaf. 1/7
@StuDeafEars I’m thinking, follow the child’s interests into personal, social and emotional development opportunities with hearing and deaf peers and deaf role models…
It's #InternationalChildrensBookDay. We've a list of 15 kid's books with deaf characters or by deaf authors and illustrators.
These are a great way to learn about deaf culture, sign language & celebrate the diversity of our world: https://t.co/N0CHRRLfBZ
