This won’t be an easy post. Nothing about cancer is. And when the patient is your 17 yr old son? It is harder still.

Jesse has acute T-cell lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL). His treatment will last 2-3 years & impact his junior and senior years.

The next few weeks will be a whirlwind - and very difficult for Jesse. We have already logged 26 hospital nights (both on the oncology floor and in the ICU) based on how aggressive his treatments need to be: a necessary function of a cancer equally aggressive. Please pray for Jesse’s pain level and endurance.

His brother Noah and sister Grace back at their respective colleges and will need their own type of strength to do the work before them. Please pray for their peace of mind.

One thing is clear in all of this: God’s purpose in this trial is a good one, and He is continually trustworthy.
He is good, all the time.

“The Lord watches over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
Psalm 121:8

I am beyond grateful for the help of dear colleagues and friends and especially to @nickineily @malcolm_john @AmySwearer and @cullystimson who have exceeded every kindness I thought possible, and who put together this way to help:

In a polarized election season, some conservative factions are pushing for elimination of a “proportionality” provision of Title IX, designed to ensure equal athletic opportunity for girls.

They’re not just wrong, they’re destroying the coalition conservative women bent over backwards to build & chipping away at the sole law protecting women’s educational equality.

Pick better targets, gents.

Thank you to @EdWorkforceCmte & @RepWalberg for this important report focusing on antisemitism in K-12 education! This is a very real problem that has not received enough attention.

The SCOTUS denial of an application for stay of lower court’s injunction in Trump v Kingdom over the Bureau of Prisons policy denying taxpayer funded “gender affirming” case for prisons was issued without opinion today.

Justices Alito and Thomas would have granted the stay.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday left in place a lower court order preventing Trump administration from implementing its new policy on healthcare for transgender inmates.

ICYMI: @DefendingEd’s @SarahPPerry shares how the end of the ABA’s monopoly on law school accreditation would improve law schools in the United States. ⬇️

[Colin Wright @SwipeWright]

🚨 NEW: For the @WSJ, @Hartz_PhD and I expose the ideological takeover of the American Psychological Association.

The APA is facing the possible loss of its federal accreditation authority following allegations of widespread antisemitism.

But while the APA's antisemitism problem is serious, it's only a symptom of a much deeper ideological rot.

The organization has become so captured by radical left-wing political activism that its commitment to scientific objectivity competence is now in serious doubt.

We examined the program for this year's major APA Division 39 conference, which drew nearly 800 attendees and held 90 panels over four days.

By our count, roughly 70 of the 90 panels were overtly political, and always left-wing. Topics included abolishing the family, queer anarchist psychoanalysis, dismantling gender assessment guidelines, and white supremacy. One session even concluded with a drag show.

There was at least some hope that the threat of losing federal accreditation might prompt some institutional soul-searching. It didn't.

Instead, APA members just elected Candice Hargons as their next president. Her campaign identifies "systemic intersectional oppression" as the profession's "common enemy" and calls for rejecting the traditional scientific notions of objectivity.

Psychologists wield enormous influence over vulnerable patients, and the people seeking treatment deserve the peace of mind knowing that the care they're receiving care is evidence based and not tainted radical politics.

We believe most would agree that federal accreditation should actually mean something. If the APA cannot distinguish its scientific mission from its political activism, the Education Department should reconsider whether it deserves the government's endorsement as an authority over psychological training.

Must-read. ⤵️

Silencing debate on "gender medicine" speaks volumes. The AACAP apparently has something to hide.

[Do No Harm @donoharm]

"Who’s afraid of evidence-based medicine? The answer, regrettably, is the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or Aacap.

The organization—which strongly influences parents, policymakers and medical practice—has rebuffed our separate attempts to hold discussions on childhood gender transition at its annual meeting, which begins in Atlanta on Oct. 26.

As psychiatrists ourselves, it pains us to say that Americans should ignore one of the most prestigious medical associations in our field for the sake of protecting children from lifelong harm... "

A Michigan School District is still using racial hiring quotas despite the Supreme Court's ruling in SFFA v. Harvard.

“The Supreme Court could not have been clearer in Students for Fair Admissions: public institutions that take federal money must treat people as individuals, not as representatives of a racial group.” - @SarahPPerry

NEW: @POTUS’ move to strip the ABA of federal recognition could reshape legal education. @DefendingEd’s @SarahPPerry explains how removing its gatekeeper status could curb ideological mandates and refocus law schools on producing excellent attorneys.

@EWess92 And right on the heels of the DOJ and Ed Depts’ elimination of disparate impact liability under T VI & VII

[Sarah Parshall Perry @SarahPPerry]

In July, the @usedgov followed suit, and formally rescinded disparate impact provisions on Title VI promulgated under previous administrations.

[Sarah Parshall Perry @SarahPPerry]

⏰SCOTUS grants cert in another school case:

In Assoc. for ED. Fairness v. Montgomery Bd. of Ed., the Court will determine whether a plaintiff challenging a facially neutral admissions policy as racially discriminatory must establish that the targeted racial group suffered an aggregate disparate impact.

Since the Court's ruling in Village of Arlington Heights v. Metropolitan Housing Development Corp. (1977), circuits have split over disparate-impact liability in school admissions, and the Court will tackle that split head-on this term.

This is a timely grant, coming on the heels of the DOJ's final rule eliminating disparate-impact liability from its Title VI regulations.

Students for Fair Admission v. Harvard was anything but the last word on using race in education.

[EDU War Room @EduWarRoom]

The Trump admin will soon decide whether to strip the American Bar Association’s (ABA) law school accrediting arm of federal recognition.

"These law students are actually going to get a better education. Because we get the ABA meddling away from curricular inclusions, and we get them away from race mandates in admissions and in hiring and promotions, we get back to ground zero on making excellent lawyers." -@SarahPPerry of @DefendingEd

I will never forget watching his confirmation hearing, in which he said he would rather die than back down from bullies. His tenacity, integrity, & intellect were as evident then as they have been in all of his opinions, since.

Congratulations, Justice Thomas.

35 years ago today, Clarence Thomas was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court by the Senate.

Growing up in segregated Georgia, he rose to become one of the greatest Supreme Court justices in American history.

The Court and our country are better off today because of him.

He was right.
And it was.

Obergefell was not our nation’s slippery slope - but its judicial cliff from which all manner of identitarianism has sprung.

Alito’s Obergefell dissent was prescient as he is.

[ABC News @ABC]

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito says in a new book that he believes the court's landmark decision extending marriage rights to same-sex couples was "perhaps the decisive point in our nation's turn against religious liberty."
