This is the richest country on earth.
770,000 Americans should not be homeless, and 20 million more should not be spending over half their incomes on rent or a mortgage.
We need to invest in affordable housing, not Trump’s massive tax breaks for billionaires.
There is no animal closer to a dog than the turkey–and yet few will mourn the 46 million slaughtered this Thanksgiving. Turkeys will sit in your lap and beg you for belly scratches.
But this is just one of many amazing things about the common turkey.
For example, did you know that wild turkeys can fly? Unlike their domesticated cousins, who have been selectively bred to grow massive breasts, turkeys in the wild can fly up to 50 mph.
They also can speak, with over 20 distinct vocalizations, including a happy purr that’s similar to a cat’s.
But the most remarkable thing about the turkey is something they share with all sentient beings, including humans. They can feel. And at sanctuaries across the nation, we are celebrating Thanksgiving by making friends with turkeys, not eating them. #Thanksgiving #Turkey
These poor pups are feeling the weight of waiting for weeks in their kennels as they wait for their forever homes.🥺
These good boys and girls are just looking to love & have a family to call their own. ❤️

That guilt & fear you feel when you place a new boundary is from all the times someone else made you feel like your voice didn’t matter. This is all the more reason to practice using it. The guilt & fear will go away. It takes time, but when the boundary stays, the peace does too
Why is being a loner seen as a bad thing? We all have a need to be alone. It doesn’t make a person anti social.
It doesn’t make a person standoffish.
We all have different needs.
Stop saying: stay for the kids.
Staying in unhealthy or toxic relationships doesn’t help children.
It teaches them to accept dysfunction.
It teaches them disrespect is a normal part of relationships.
Sometimes the most powerful thing a child can witness is a parent walking away.
They learn: if I need to, I can choose me, too.
It’s permission seek what’s healthy and leave what is not.
Few people talk about the damage that comes from growing up with parents who stayed together and cannot stand each other.
