Voyager 1 Is About to Reach One Light-day from Earth
After nearly 50 years in space, NASA’s Voyager 1 is about to hit a historic milestone. By November 15, 2026, it will be 16.1 billion miles (25.9 billion km) away, meaning a radio signal will take a full 24 hours, a full light-day to reach it.
MCP is mostly nonsense, but there are good effects:
1. Tricks management to green-light engineering efforts on APIs and OAuth DCR (Dynamic Client Registration)
2. Tricks LLM clients to integrate with everyone, ie an open-ecosystem, not walled gardens
3. (Just discovered this one today) The fact that MCP is a difference surface from your normal API allows you to ship MUCH faster to MCP. This has been unlocked by inference at runtime
Normal APIs are promises to developers, because developer commit code that relies on those APIs, and then walk away. If you break the API, you break the promise, and you break that code. This means a developer gets woken up at 2am to fix the code
But MCP servers are called my LLMs which dynamically read the spec every time, which allow us to constantly change the MCP server. It doesn't matter! We haven't made any promises. The LLM can figure it out afresh every time
This is why we've shipped capabilities to our MCP server that our API doesn't yet have. We aren't worried about committing ourselves to anything. We can always change the MCP server later and the LLM will figure it out

On July 14, at approximately 21:53 UTC, ThousandEyes detected routing instability affecting Cloudflare’s public DNS resolver 1.1.1.1. The issue occurred when TATA Communications (AS4755) announced the IP address block (1.1.1.0/24) that belongs to Cloudflare, resulting in a hijack that disrupted website access for some users. The issue was resolved at 22:19 UTC when TATA’s AS4755 withdrew the announcement of the 1.1.1.0/24 prefix and valid routing resumed.

On March 10, social media platform X experienced a series of five different disruptions of varying duration, rendering the service inaccessible to some users worldwide. The issues were first observed around 9:45 UTC and appeared to be resolved for most users by 18:15 UTC. During the disruptions, ThousandEyes observed network conditions that are characteristic of a DDoS attack, including significant traffic loss conditions which would have hindered users from reaching the application.

@levelsio Also I would add the yearly house taxes are low and you don’t pay inheritor taxes that’s why so many people sell property in other countries like Netherlands and buy in Portugal
