I had low expectations @Telstra but seriously. Technician no-show for appt between 8am - 1pm, 45 mins in chat at 2:30pm to be told they can't help and to call in, two phone calls with promised call back not followed through, to end up with appt being cancelled, wasting whole day.
What's the origin of "slash" as a term? I thought it came from X-Files fandom, where core ship was tagged with initialism "MSR" (Mulder-Scully relationship). Non-MSR fic used "A/B" format, usually "Mulder/<other dude>" hence "slashfic" as a collective term for mlm stories.
Slash: mlm ship.
Femslash: wlw ship.
Het: mlw / wlm ship.
For a very long time it was the norm to *warn* people if your fic was slash or femslash. Shipping anything that wasnβt heterosexual was considered very niche & potentially offensive.

@derridalicious πππ If you're searching for a silver lining, it will be so comfy to sleep facing down once the wound heals. One of my breastβs an E-cup, the other just never grew; got an implant a few years back & I miss being able to just flop over & not have to prop in a pillow or whatever.
@booklovinggal I've been kind of disconnected from ~everything~ lately but wanted to send my πππ I was caring for my mum (early onset Parkinson's) in rotation with my sibs for a year until we found her a place in a good home nearby. Make sure to look after yourself too π
@booklovinggal I had a dude call out at me from his ute for wearing a mask. While I was crossing the street to get to the chemist. Like, why? Why does it matter to you? You're all about personal freedoms, what about my freedom TO wear a mask?
@suelapp Speaking of memories: my parents got the GCB delivered when I lived with them on the GC in the late 90s/early 2000s, and I still remember your column as one of the few things worth reading in the rag, so thank you π
@girlgerms I think that's part of it - helplessness and constant anxiety is tiring. But also, the pandemic and ~everything else~ has upended a lot of assumptions about how life works (such as how we work and its relative importance) and it's going to take a while to get our footing back.
@auspost Can you help me figure out what's happened to my parcel? Was at West End Montague Rd parcel lockers but power failure got it transferred to West End post office, but they seem to be closed for the week (I'm guessing due to floods?)
Okay @auspost this is getting ridiculous. Package arrived in Brisbane (where it's supposed to be delivered) but it then got redirected to Melbourne. I got you to redirect it back to me, where it got to Brisbane again ... only to see it's now on its way to PERTH. wtf? DM'ing you.
@so_caffeinated I trolled my partner and our friend expertly the other day. Brought up an Apple Music playlist, three songs in they were praising the choices; only then did I reveal it was named "Dad Rock Essentials". Their reaction still warms my evil evil heart.
Wow, I never noticed before - he only put *two* arrows into the Count, the third is into the window behind him to make sure it breaks when he falls back π¨
@fenchurchly Thankfully insurance is sorting all the repurchasing/finance etc, but I've still spent hours on waiting on hold, plus the doctors fees that are waiting on workers comp refund (again, hours filling out those forms) and just ughhhhhh adulting sucks
@auspost can you please explain what's happening with my parcel? Delivery from overseas to Brisbane, seems to be doing a cross-country trek. Can DM the tracking #
@alexbrucesmith Unfortunately my psych seems to have dropped off the map, so now Iβm running down the clock to find a new psych so I donβt run out of the necessary drugs that keep my life together.
@alexbrucesmith Third, a few more years later, I researched (more local resources now) and found someone. Got to GP, got a referral, waited two months only to be rejected as a client. Then finally lucked out when my sisterβs GP mentioned a psych and I got an appt and then a diagnosis.
@alexbrucesmith Diagnosed at 36, took me a decade π First, only psych I could find who diagnosed adults was in suburbs when I worked a call centre in the CBD, so getting to appts was tricky. Few years later, psychologist dismissed it because I did so well in Yr 12 (I was smart, not studious)
