Some facts about 8GB experience on Windows 11:
1. Most people who complain about 8GB don't have or use an 8GB laptop; they're repeating what is commonly and popularly said on the internet. It's outdated, and either people are being disingenuous or are just ignorant.
2. Many of the people who complain about 8GB are gamers, or professionals with legit needs beyond 8GB, but ignore the vast majority of regular consumers who do not need it, myself included.
3. Up until recently, not-great x86 CPUs (the Centrino/Duo/Atom eras), poor integrated graphics, and slow storage were way bigger performance bottlenecks vs. RAM. Current-gen Intel, AMD, and definitely Qualcomm systems run quite well on 8GB.
4. A lot of people buy 8GB PCs and are (gasp) happy with them, but for some reason the myth that "PCs suck at $799 or less" still makes the rounds.
5. Yes, performance/value can always be better, but in the land of computing, saying that like it's smart is ... not. (1/2)
