Our hearts are heavy for those impacted by last night’s violence.
We urgently call for calm. Children’s safety must be put first.
No child should have to flee home terrified for their family’s safety. No child should fear playing on the street or going to their youth club. No young person should be lured into violence by those with divisive agendas.
In this part of the world we know too well where violence leads; it scars childhoods, pits communities against each other and leaves a legacy of disadvantage and trauma for the next generation.
Together we must ensure every child gets to live in peace and safety.

We welcome Labour MPs calling for a ban on UK trade with illegal Israeli settlements.
Settlement expansion is uprooting families and leaving children without shelter, safety or basic services.
The UK must act now to end its complicity and protect children’s rights.
Together with almost 140 fellow Labour MPs, I have written to the Foreign Secretary to call for a ban on trade with illegal Israeli settlements. Our group includes every Labour select committee chair.
It’s time to be clear that settlements have no viable economic future

Only an end to the occupation can create the conditions for lasting peace and protection for children.

Young people have spoken: tackling child poverty should be @scotgov's top priority in its first 100 days ⏰
Our polling @YoungScot found that tackling child poverty was the highest-ranked issue, with 66% of 2,600 young people across Scotland identifying it as a priority.

The government had suggested up to 300 seriously ill or injured children from Gaza would be brought to the UK for treatment, but just 50 have actually arrived.
On Tuesday, a group of children who’ve received treatment here went to Parliament to lobby MPs and spoke to Channel 4 News about their experiences.
The UK Government must end its complicity in the ongoing atrocities being committed by Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank by suspending all arms sales to Israel, suspending the UK-Israel trade and partnership agreement, and banning trade with illegal Israeli settlements.

NEW: Polling of Labour Party members shows over 60% are dissatisfied with the UK Government’s response to Israel’s atrocities in the occupied Palestinian territory, and want the Government to take stronger action.
🔴 87% back a ban on trade with illegal settlements
🔴 78% back the suspension of all UK arms exports to Israel, including parts for F-35 jets
🔴 Over two-thirds back a suspension of the UK-Israel trade agreement
Since the temporary ceasefire was announced in Lebanon, 290 children have been killed or injured by Israeli forces. On average, that's more than six children each day.
Children and families have spent months enduring horrific conditions, taking refuge in overcrowded collective shelters or living on the streets.
Children are telling us that they’re afraid they might never be able to return to their homes after seeing videos or pictures of their villages and houses demolished or destroyed.
Our staff on the ground are seeing children who flinch dramatically at the slightest noise, while the constant presence of drones overhead leaves them in a state of ongoing alert, with no moment of calm or relief.
Children are not part of this conflict, they’re caught in a cycle of violence they never chose. These horrors must not be normalised.
We need a definitive and lasting ceasefire to protect children and families from further harm and allow them to return safely to their homes and resume their lives.
Air raids across Ukraine last night reportedly killed two boys aged three and eight, and injured several other children, in what appears to be one of the worst attacks on the country in recent months.
This is a devastating reminder that children in Ukraine continue to bear the brunt of this war.
Children should not have to live in fear of endless attacks or spend countless hours sheltering in corridors and basements.
Despite playing no part in the conflict, they are paying the highest price.
Attacks on densely populated areas, civilians and civilian infrastructure — including homes, schools and hospitals — must stop.
Children must be protected, and all parties must uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law.
Russian drones and missiles pounded Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, killing at least 18 people and wounding over 100. Russia had warned last week of 'systematic strikes' on Kyiv in retaliation for an attack on a dormitory that killed 21 people https://t.co/xvoYi5RDB7
❗Research from Save the Children: Palestinian children are being physically, emotionally and sexually abused, humiliated and starved in Israeli military detention.
The torture, and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of children, is getting worse.
🔴 More than half of the formerly-detained children we surveyed reported witnessing or experiencing sexual violence
🔴 99% reported physical assault
🔴 82% reported being forcibly stripped naked
🔴 94% reported being denied medical care
🔴 100% reported being denied contact with their families

@YvetteCooperMP, @HFalconerMP: the UK Government should publicly call for the release of all Palestinian children arbitrarily detained and call for an end to Israeli military authorities arresting, detaining and prosecuting children.
There's an urgent need to scale up health services and infection prevention to protect children from the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Children make up 25% of the 17 confirmed Ebola deaths, and the number of real cases is likely to be significantly higher.
"Children are paying a devastating price, making up at least one in four confirmed deaths, although we suspected the numbers are far higher.
"When parents die, children suddenly lose the biggest support system they could possibly have and face fear, grief, stigma, and social exclusion." – Dr Babou Rukengeza, Save the Children’s Ebola Response Lead in the DRC.
All families in England, Wales and Scotland will be worried about the further impact on their budgets of the energy price cap rise.
But for poorer families who spend a larger percentage of their income on energy bills, this will be particularly painful.
We're calling on the UK Government to introduce a discounted tariff for low income families called a "social tariff". This would help those hit the hardest.
Over 400,000 children have been displaced in Lebanon since March 2nd.
We worked with @alxcroft at the @Independent to tell the stories of eight children who were forced to leave their homes to share one item they brought with them that has given them comfort.

From Somalia to Afghanistan, aid cuts by countries like the UK are threatening to cripple our ability to respond to growing needs, with children bearing the brunt. This is what our teams are having to navigate every day.
The real test of commitments made in conference rooms in global capitals is whether they translate into lives saved and children’s futures protected. While we have not signed the Global Partnerships Compact at this stage, we will continue to watch closely how it is used by the UK Government to drive real change for vulnerable children around the world.
We believe what matters now is firm action, clear accountability, and clarity on how increased resources will support its ambitions. https://t.co/4QhiAL0XI4
Making bus travel free for children eases both family finances and gives older children a chance to see friends and travel to activities.
Particularly in small towns and rural parts of England this could open up new experiences for children and their families on low incomes and help them enjoy the summer break.
Measures to tackle the cost-of-living pressures are welcome and we would encourage more bold thinking like this from the Treasury when it comes to helping families cope.
“We know what to do when we catch Ebola quickly, at this point, it’s very much not under control.”
@DRC_sci Country Director, Greg Ramm, spoke to @rachelhagan_ for the @Independent about the struggle to contain the outbreak and what action is needed.

Last month, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, visited the Smallshaw-Hurst Children’s Community (SSH CC) in Ashton-under-Lyne, where he met volunteers, local residents, and our wider team.
During the visit, he spent time with our volunteers and saw the Cedar Park Pantry in action.
SSH CC was established through a partnership with Save the Children UK and continues to build on that foundation by supporting locally led, community-based approaches that strengthen relationships, reduce isolation, and improve outcomes for families.
One of the best examples of this is the Cedar Park Pantry, which is now an independent community-led initiative that supports Ashton-under-Lyne residents with affordable food.
We are grateful to everyone involved in making Smallshaw Hurst a place where communities come together and thrive.
Thank you for visiting @AndyBurnhamGM!
Across Sudan, explosive weapons are leaving a devastating mark on civilians.
Thousands have been injured since the conflict began, with reports showing double the number of casualties from explosive weapons in 2025 compared to 2023.
But these are not battlefield injuries. They are happening to children. When playing with their friends, walking home from school, or at home with their families.
Our colleague, Simon, met some of the children behind the statistics in a hospital in Khartoum. He has written a moving opinion piece for the @Daily_Express talking about his experiences.

The UK Government must act urgently: help end the conflict in Sudan, protect children, and ensure accountability. That includes pressuring all warring parties and their international backers to stop the violence.
Sudan’s children can’t afford any more delays.

The UK’s decision to halve its contribution to the Green Climate Fund is a huge disappointment and a short-sighted betrayal to children already experiencing the devastating impacts of the climate crisis.
The Green Climate Fund remains one of the most important and transformative global funds for supporting lower-income countries to adapt to climate change, strengthen resilience and pursue low-carbon development.
These cuts are not abstract. They will have real implications for existing programmes supporting children and for the ability of vulnerable countries and communities to prepare for and respond to escalating climate risks.
The decision also raises broader concerns about the UK’s approach to international climate finance. Increasing reliance on creative accounting, while reducing direct contributions to dedicated climate funds, risks undermining trust and weakening the UK’s credibility as a reliable partner to the Global South.
The world’s largest state-backed climate fund will lose half its funding from the UK, a major setback following the cancellation of a $4 billion pledge from the US last year https://t.co/iM4d0mvbr9
