One of England’s earliest cricket pavilions is now a listed building, so it probably won’t be knocked down to make way for an Aldi https://t.co/jQE9gzLR6D
BIG news in our campaign.
Huyton Cricket Club has now been Grade II listed by Heritage England.
We hope this is the first step towards killing Aldi's plans and restoring the club, but await confirmation from @KnowsleyCouncil
Will keep you all posted.
@PrescotLabour@Knowsley_Leader@LabourKnowsley Indeed good news. A consistent approach is needed in every part of our historic borough. We support @savehcc efforts to persuade the Council and others to adopt a similar approach in Huyton.
Residents in Swanside have had this leaflet, containing a much needed commitment to green spaces from @Knowsley_Leader and the other Cllrs for the area.
We hope you support our campaign to save and restore one of our most historic green spaces.

Opposing a multi £mn development by a multi £bn company costs money.
If you can afford to chip in to help us out, we would appreciate it.
Any money that we don't use will be donated to Knowsley Foodbank.
Thank you in advance for your support. Pls RT

More to follow soon. #savehuytoncricketclub
UPDATE THREAD: We understand that @AldiUK have now submitted a formal planning application to @KnowsleyCouncil to demolish the Cricket Club and build a new store and houses.
Their "consultation" only closed today, so it was clearly a PR exercise and a sham.
Our fight to stop over 150 years of history disappearing will now ramp up. We do this to preserve a piece of local heritage, campaign for retention of the space for community use and take the side of local residents most impacted by the proposals.
@GaryLewis23@aldi Great stuff, if you want to be involved in what we are doing, we have got a WhatsApp group as well. If you fancy it, email us your number to [email protected] 👍
Please sign and share the petition to Save the Cricket Club from development. Over 300 people have already added their names. More updates will follow soon.

THREAD: The local residents involved in our campaign have been out delivering our first #savehuytoncricketclub leaflet. The response so far has been really positive, with a few people saying that it's nice to know that others feel the same way about the plans.
Pictures from inside the grounds of the Cricket Club today. This place is stepped in history which would be lost forever if it's demolished for another identikit Aldi store. #savehuytoncricketclub
