Dedicated to conserving the Rosebud River Valley and preserving our natural watershed, a quiet community called to action in opposition to a proposed racetrack.
Thank you to all the participants in the wilderness walk yesterday. We love to show off this incredible place. Special thanks to Spruce Coulee Farms and @RickSkibsted for hosting the day.
@ABWilderness Thank you to ALL the participants in the wilderness walk yesterday. Special thanks to Spruce Coulee Farms for sharing their incredible part of the valley. #savetherosebud
@msabine900@CalgaryResponse@kananaskinyeti@albertabats@Lucycrew7@joe_norte Yes, that is part of it we think. A whole new batch of lawyers. We go up against a prov lawyer for the Director, a lawyer for the Minister, a lawyer for the EAB, and a new lawyer representing the racetrack proponent. Four against one.
@savetherosebud@cowsandfish only 2-5% of our area is wetlands, over80% of wildlife need them. Elite ractrack can’t see beyond their own self-indulgence. It’s shameful. @savetherosebud
While we wait and work on documents in the background for our first court appearance on June 20, our group and supporters carry on reminding everyone to keep involved. Thank you to everyone who continues to work to @savetherosebud. #savetherosebud
Time marches on. Since 2021, now over 8000 acres are protected by conservation easement. We know endangered bats hibernate here. The racetrack says leopard frogs were found at the site. Racetrack in the middle of critical habitat for bank swallow. #savetherosebud
How can a racetrack be compatible with this! @RosebudTheatre is a provincial icon, now threatened by a Formula 1 Racetrack destroying this beautiful Rosebud River Valley? #savetherosebud
And it all washes down into the wetlands contaminating them. The wetlands that are in critical habitat. To think you can mitigate after the damage is done is ridiculous. #savetherosebud
@savetherosebud What a beautiful spot!!!! Why do we want to dig it up and then contaminate it. In what world does this make any sense??? I hope not this one!!
The largest wetland in the valley. It will get LESS water and seasonally dry up sooner and what it gets will be contaminated by racetracks and skid pad. In critical habitat ... bank swallow foraging, leopard frogs, bats. Wrong location for a racetrack @savetherosebud
@msabine900 Not a stupid question. Any common sense person wonders the same. SARA together with the Migratory Bird Act do ultimately ensure critical habitat must be protected. It's a complicated process. You can be sure we will follow through. #savetherosebud
Presenting on #WorldMigratoryBirdsDay the Rosebud River Valley's largest Bank Swallow Colony (2021 edition) ... Now in Critical Habitat under SARA. Narrated by Dr Geoff Holroyd, PhD, Swallow Researcher for over 40 years. (1/2) #savetherosebud
Hear, hear. The fact they come hat in hand for taxpayer money to build a road is gobsmacking. Let’s not wreck this pristine spot for the entertainment of the elites. #savetherosebud
And now this...these are researchers warning everyone to stop taking biodiversity for granted. Save our natural spaces. Pay attention and just STOP. "Let us destroy just one more time" will put us over the edge. #savetherosebud@KneehillCounty@AB_Enviro

THIS is how a Race Track is built,
THIS is the destruction that can never be reclaimed.
HOW could any provincial regulator approve this destruction?
HOW could any municipality approve this destruction?
HOW do we stop this NONSENSE? #savetherosebud
