Marriage isn't simply the next step on the relationship ladder. It is a conscious commitment that your partner can rely on you, and knowing beyond any doubt that you can rely on them.
Marriage takes work, absolutely. But I believe in working hard at work worth doing.

This policy allows our immigration system to function as the law intended instead of incentivizing loopholes.
The era of abusing our nationโs immigration system is over.

The Senate just passed my โPlug & Play Solar Actโ โ allowing people to install small plug-in solar devices, sometimes known as โbalcony solar,โ in order to lower electric bills.
SB 868 will make plug-in solar an option for millions of Californians who are now shut out from the benefits of solar energy.
Currently, plug-in solar is rarely used in California since you have to enter into a full interconnection agreement with your utility, which isnโt feasible.
Plug-in solar is a great solution for renters, who are largely excluded from the cost-reduction benefits of solar, & for homeowners who canโt afford the upfront costs of rooftop solar.
Iโm grateful to our coalition & to my colleagues for passing the bill.
@jrivanob HOWEVER - this confusion doesn't persist for GDP since GDP is by definition a yearly flow. That *IS* aggregate, so over the 20 years we will lose out on over $4B in GDP.
@jrivanob REMI estimates are, admittedly, confusing, but you're not correct. It's not "a total of 944 jobs lost over 20 years" (It's also not 944*20 jobs lost). It's: "in the average year over the next 20, 944 fewer jobs will exist when compared to a universe where prop D didn't exist".
In 2025 Safeway's profit margin was just 0.3% (per the SEC). If Prop D passes, they will have a NET LOSS of 0.93%.
What will Safeway do if Prop D passes? Their only two choices are RAISE GROCERY PRICES or LEAVE THE CITY.
@mhoeft oh damn, you're right! I was told this by a person in city hall so I believed them. But I have now double checked and you're right. Deleted the original, thanks for the fact check! (no wonder this was literally unbelievable - turns out it wasn't true!)

Did you know in San Francisco, you can block housing from being built because itโฆ causes a shadow?
Over the last 10 years, over 2000 units of housing have been delayed or stalled because of this.
That's why Iโm announcing the SHADE Act - or Slashing Housing Appeals And Delays Everywhere.
You see today, our city treats โshadowsโ the same as toxic waste in our environmental review process. It allows anyone to appeal a project and stop it from being built on the grounds of some shade caused by a new building.
The SHADE Act will in turn: 1) eliminate local allowances for shadow as a reason for an environmental appeal, 2) streamline our environmental review processes from 30 days to 15 days, and 3) simplify and modernize our public notification processes.
Because letโs face it, San Francisco is paying too high a price for being afraid of its own shadow. Itโs time to fix that.
