This is the kick-off tweet from the @sc3_team official account! 🍾🥂🎉
Follow us to learn about the relation between #ClimateChange and #Society and #Economy. We study how they are organized and how they evolve.
Let's introduce the team ⬇️ (1/9)

Much like hurricanes further south, the strongest nor’easters to pummel New England are getting even stronger as sea surface temperatures rise. https://t.co/Zvb3RkTHV5
9 days left to submit your work on modeling 'Positive Tipping Points for Accelerating Climate and Sustainability Action' at Global Tipping Point Conference! Deadline: March 19th https://t.co/3B2WcozT1k
🔔We are delighted to announce that #EAERE2025 Call for Science-Policy-Business Sessions & Call for Thematic Sessions are now open!
Deadline for session submissions: 31 January 2025

Climate mobility is the topic @GCCMobility during #ClimateWeekNYC . What do climate impacts mean for people? How will they change behavior & where will they go? It was insightful to hear @bhamlington & @ClimateOpp talk about #SLR & #migration. What data&models can support policy?
🌟JOB: 4-year fully funded PhD 🌟 on 'Soc-econ #Tipping Points & Levers in Scaling up Nature Based Solutions’ to reduce #ClimateRisk & support #adaptation w #NBS. We plan to use #ABM & statistical #data analysis. Apply by 28.10: https://t.co/Vlc7sdy33O @TPMTUDelft@EAERE_envecon
📚 Paul Smaldino’s (@psmaldino) new book, “Modeling Social Behavior.” explores the power of computational modeling to understand why misinformation spreads, cooperation falters, and vaccination hesitancy persists.

Proud of Ignasi Cortés winning a @tudelft#Climate Action Best Paper award! Congratulations💐 https://t.co/0ptP0thK0Q. Check our new estimates of indirect #SLR#damages for European regions: https://t.co/5HzoY0Ned1 Tnx to our co-authors & to @ERC_Research for funding. @sc3_team
Damage caused by sea level rises could cost the EU and UK economies up to 872 billion Euros in total by the end of the century, according to a study published in @SciReports. https://t.co/kjB3fKwsHK
To keep Deltas around the world safe and liveable in the future, we urgently need to rethink them.
In TPM on Stage, scheduled for 14 March between 16:00 and 17:00, we will highlight the work of TPM researchers in making our Deltas more resilient.

How to better represent institutions in sustainability models?
Check our new @PNASNews paper that compares:
- integrated assessment model (led by me)
- engineering-economic optimization (@east_winds )
- agent-based model (@TanjaFilatova)
A thread:

How do institutions affect sustainability outcomes? How to modify computational models to capture real-world human behaviors and rules? In new research in @PNASNews, we demonstrate tractable ways and shared research agenda for social scientists & modelers.

This research was a collaboration with @TanjaFilatova, @WeiPeng_Pton, Liz Verbeek and Fikri Kucuksayacigil. Our teams examined sustainability models across scales: macro (Integrated Assessment Modeling), meso (Engineering Economic Optimizations) and micro (Agent Based Modeling).
Happy to share that even the last chapter of my PhD dissertation has been published OA in @SciReports and is available at this link: https://t.co/VJphMRrhqR.
Paper:
Our new study in @SciReports https://t.co/7AhEDYyQEE shows that economic #damages of #climate-induced #SLR are higher than previously estimated. National damages mask the true costs of climate-induced #SLR that could be an order of magnitude higher.
Thnx @henkovink for the inspiring talk this evening @TheGrnVillage. In the times when we are “urbanizing faster in climate-sensitive areas” it is refreshing to hear that engineering has to be paired w collaborative partnerships to deliver solutions
Thank you for leading this critical, timely, and comprehensive overview. It was an honor to contribute to this flagship report. @sc3_team @tudelftTBM @4TUResilience@tudelft
