My children used Duolingo for a year to further their study of a language they know. It was not an effective tool. On the other hand, in less time, their teachers provided them great instruction and they learned a tremendous amount. Just because AI can teach doesn’t mean kids can learn from it.

It was that long ago that seeing a swastika would be major news. There's so much vitriol, it's common. Six days ago in Wilmington, NC, a place where people protest their Republican Congressional representative for not meeting with them in 7 years, someone painted a swastika, again. My understanding of the article: Because there is less play in kindergarten, it has put boys behind, which is problematic. Therefore, make kindergarten less academic to help boys. But what do you do with the boys who already went through an academic program? Also, aren’t we saying keep girls away from academics so boys can catch up? Is that ok?

6/3/25 @USAmbIsrael spoke at my school's graduation. He addressed the fact that the seniors, who are from all over the world including Jewish & Palestinian Israelis, had spent the last 20 months running to bomb shelters. Last night, after graduation, the Houthis shot another rocket while my kids were sleeping. We had to wake them and sit in the shelter. Certainly the Palestinians suffer infinitely more than we do. But I contend, again, how many Yemenites could be fed, or Palestinians for every missile shot at Israel?

I was deeply moved by the video of former Israeli prime minister @Yairlapid durring the @FDD event in Washington earlier this week commiserating for the death of Palestinian civilians: “I don’t know why the government of Israel is reluctant to say this: we are sorry for any loss of innocent life. Children should not die in grown-up wars.” So simple. So obvious.

I’m a politician, I know when another politician is genuine. Lapid’s words were heartfelt, not calculated. He spoke his feelings, and he showed his humanity. Lapid is a patriot. He keeps in his mind the best interest of his people and his country, but that doesn’t stop him from expressing sympathy for all the innocents who have paid the ultimate price. If I were an Israeli I’d feel proud of Lapid.

I wish more Israelis would take Lapid’s example and unblock their hearts. We should all acknowledge the suffering and feel the pain of the other side. This is a great start and an example to follow.
