Research by Dr Jonathan Carrivick and colleagues finds that Alaskan glaciers are shrinking faster than previously thought.
They studied glacier loss on Juneau Icefield and found that it has increased dramatically since 2010.

"Melting glaciers could speed up carbon emissions"
According to @scfell1's research, melting glaciers could be triggering a ‘feedback process’ that causes further climate change.

"This is an unexpected form of climate feedback, whereby warming drives glacier loss, which in turn rapidly recycles carbon in rivers before it is returned to the atmosphere."

Today I passed my PhD viva! Hugely thankful for my supervisors Lee Brown and Jonathan Carrivick @rbpmleeds and to my exam team Megan Klaar @Ragsie123, Dean Jacobsen and Mark Smith @Mark_SmithW. @LeedsYorkDTP I feel very privileged, thank you.
@NHM_Science@scfell1@NHM_Digitise @beardiddley These were part of a "dragonfly habitat assessment" according to the labels. We did also find a couple half eaten fish - prey of large dragonfly nymphs... didn't think to take a photo though :(
Absolutely fantastic couple of days in the spirit collection this week with @scfell1. Rehoused the #Dragonfly collection, around 2,000 vials. Now in modern, archival storage for generations to come. Next step digitise them! Also found these fish....not sure why...
