Barry Sharp: "a textbook exercise in technocratic intervention that shifts the costs of private-sector misjudgment onto taxpayers while expanding the long-term fiscal and operational liabilities of the state...governments acquire or heavily subsidize stock, promise affordability, then discover that maintenance, management and supporting vulnerable tenants create enduring public burdens that grow rather than diminish over time."

A society is in trouble when it condemns crimes selectively and excuses them tribally.
The fastest way to destroy trust is to demand collective guilt from one group and collective innocence from another.
Healthy society condemns evil consistently.
A sick one checks demographics first.
In 1884, Ulysses S. Grant was dying of throat cancer and was dead broke.
His money was wiped out by a swindler who stole his fortune.
Desperate to leave something for his wife, he agreed to write his Civil War memoirs and was close to signing a contract for a meager 10% royalty.
Mark Twain stepped in, called the deal robbery and offered Grant 70% of the profits through his own publishing company.
Grant raced death to finish the book, completing it just days before he died in July 1885.
It became one of the greatest memoirs ever written.
The royalties left his widow nearly half a million dollars, about $16 million today, and the book has never gone out of print.
Confederation of Tomorrow survey, finds 67% of Canadians are not confident that public servants and governments can spend taxpayers’ money wisely.
QUESTION: WHAT THE HECK ARE THE OTHER 33% THINKING? COVID-19 Benefits - $14 Billion to ineligible recipients.
Arrive Can $60 Million (original budget $80,000) - Phoenix Pay System $5.1 billion (AG calls it "unfathomably incompetent") - TransMountain Pipeline original private sector budget $4.5B to $34B.

"That’s a lot of words to say: “I’m giving your tax dollars to rich people who made a crap investment.” Canada, you should be furious about this!"
- Richard Dias, Ice Cap Management
This bailout underscores exactly why British Columbians need strong, independent leadership.
Instead of addressing the money laundering that has distorted our housing market and funded organized crime, Ottawa and the NDP are once again propping up the system that benefits criminals while families struggle to buy homes.
The Cullen Commission laid out the path forward. My plan delivers it: an independent Anti-Money Laundering Officer, aggressive provincial pressure on Ottawa for racketeering laws and FINTRAC sharing, and real action at Delta Port.
We will restore fairness, protect property rights, and make our communities safer. No more scandals. Real results for British Columbians.
Together, we can build the province our families deserve.
Someone I follow needed a hernia surgery. Rather than agonize in pain for months and months, he paid for private surgery in BC. We already have a duel practice surgery model.
Developers: we want to take advantage of the mass immigration caused housing shortage and build shitboxes that have no long term value.
Municipalities: yes! All that extra property tax revenue.
CMHC: we will finance that.
Developers: we built over-priced shitboxes no one wants.
Mark Carney: here is a bail out.
Municipalities: we mismanaged that extra revenue.
Mark Carney: here is a bail out.
Literally the absolute dumbest program that exists in Canada.
It was originally created to save family farms, the opposite has happened & we’ve gone from some 130,000 dairy farms when SM started to about 9,100 today.
The PET gov also claimed it was to keep prices low for CDN’s, the opposite is true & as the article says, we spend at least $1,000 a year more on dairy & poultry than we should be spending.
It’s also the reason the EU, 9 years after Canada signed CETA (the Canada Europe Free Trade Agreement), still hasn’t been ratified by the EU & never will be as long as SM exists.
A real sector wide free market economy should be the goal, not protecting votes primarily in QC by maintaining a failed communist based system!
Granular knowledge of how the Vancouver Condo Kings are the major supporters of people like Gregor Robertson, Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney was my past reporting beat. I’m not going back to it, other reporters need to pick that up. Read JWR’s chapter about meeting Trudeau in his friend’s pent house to understand who Carney is bailing out. I can say the Chinese money behind all these Liberals makes the story so much worse than a Liberal bail out of slick developers. This is scandalous and nationally ruinous.
Canadians are being denied the truth about the economic fall out and implications of the end of the USMCA
75% of exports depend on it.
Why the silence?
According to Alberta campaign finance law, Forever Canada is operating in contravention of the law by not registering as third-party advertiser. FC is getting a free pass from media and @ElectionsAB. This is what the other side is up against.
Still not quite as embarrassing as @RoyalBCMuseum. They sit on treatied land and *have the original treaties onsite in their archives,* and they still have plaques everywhere claiming they're atop unceded land. Just jaw-dropping mediocrity and incompetence.
