This, in essence, is the workflow. And the code is available in the GitHub repo linked in the paper.

Later this week, I will go over how we test the accuracy of this workflow both in a wind tunnel and in a large flight enclosure.

Long story short, this paper uses DeepLabCut (DLC) for detecting anatomical landmarks in image coordinates, and uses DLTdv functions to convert these to 3D coordinates. We use the DLC confidence and the DLTdv reprojection error to to discard or correct erroneuos detections.

For each combination of choices regarding what is left and what is right for each landmark and frame number, the likely actual side is determined by assuming that DLC gets it right most of the time. So the side with the higher confidence sum 'wins'.

@royvanrijn Yeah, even when thinking about people I wouldn't speak English to.

And yesterday when talking to my dad, I couldn't remember my US phone number when speaking Swedish, remembered (in part) my old Swedish number instead, had to speak English to remember the correct number.
