We qualified athletes in 5 events at the UIL State meet, but are limited to just TWO coaching passes.
The rest of our staff?
Paying spectators at our OWN state championship.
Imagine telling football that only 2 coaches get sideline passes. 🙄
Simple fix:
1 event qualified = 1 coaching pass.
Anyone else's state pull this nonsense?
Coaches,

Distance I would bike to junior high and back home: 2.67 miles each way. I wanted to bike this distance. Couldn't wait for spring, so I could feel the independence. Thanks mom and dad for letting us bike to school.

I love competing & winning… but I will NEVER be about winning at all costs!!! The beauty of competing is winning with honestly, not pointing fingers, not stepping over that line in any way… knowing on that day, in that moment you were the better team/player PERIOD!!
You wanna be TOUGH?!
Avoid SOFT people! You know… Those who are:
S - selfish
O - offended easily
F - fault finders
T - tough in speech, but not action

I’ve heard several stories recently that brought to mind what Dad did for me that I wrote about here. I realized that we all need to be reminded to let our young athletes struggle by not clearing the path for them but instead lighting the way from behind.

If something promises to alleviate anxiety and depression; improve your blood sugar and blood pressure; boost your immune system; and enhance your gut microbiome, and if that something is anything but regular physical activity, that something is almost certainly a grift.
#1 Simple Question? How many of your athletes keep training logs? If they are not, they are not achieving their full capabilities. It is a simple process that gives intent & focus.
Look at professional athletes.
In general, when their public/external life becomes chaotic, their performance on the field suffers.
It's hard to compartmentalize, even for the best.
Build a strong foundation. Keep life simple. Don't let distractions and chaos be your undoing.
What a journey it has been with these amazing young women. They ran their hearts out today, and finished 7th in Region 3-6A. We put 3 individuals thru to State, but the road has come to an end for this team. I love these girls. We’ll be back!

I think Milesplit is an unbelievable resource for our sport.
…and I can’t think of a reason athletes should be on it this week.
You have no control over the competition.
Focus on the things in your control this week.
Great job Rowan Saacke (Tompkins), Adrian Hahn Vadstein (Cinco Ranch), Reese Sullivan (Seven Lakes) & Mathew Montgomery (Seven Lakes). They all finished in the Top 10 at the Region Cross Country Meet. See all the State Qualifiers below:
