@ernestdove Right? Laughable. And equally sad too. A real, transparent answer would have been to say “we will evaluate what the Rays did that we weren’t able to do and try to learn from that.” Figure out WHAT the Rays did that the Mets didn’t, or couldn’t. That’s what’s needed.
@PSLToFlushing@WexlerRules@Mets Right. Stearns was a boy genius when he won in Milwaukee. Did he suddenly forget everything he did when he was a genius in Milwaukee when he came to the Mets?! It’s all about winning. And nothing else.
@Ben_Yoel The optics are pretty simple and the math is always the same. For any GM. Always. When the team plays well, your vision is smart. When the team doesn’t, your vision is faulty.
@Ben_Yoel I obviously agree with this comment as well since I proposed the idea. But think about it. Have you seen Miller’s stats? They are video game numbers. Have you watched Devin Williams? Miller’s young, under control for years. This is the exact trade Steve Cohen should make!
@Ben_Yoel here’s a creative one. If the Yankees can make a rumored play for Mason Miller, why can’t the Mets? Take on the remainder of Manny Machado’s contract as well to get Miller in exchange for some of the underperforming prospects like Tong , Clifford and Ross or Lambert.
@ernestdove And there’s nobody at the top 4 levels of the minors having a big season either. Right? You’ll tell me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the Mets will have a single MLB top 100 prospect next year. Wandy Asigen hasn’t even debuted, right? What’s going on this year?!
@ernestdove Right? Some teams would need to triple their payroll, and as for the “rich” teams, Ohtani and Tucker alone at $70 mil and $57 mil would make up more than HALF the salary cap. With 23 other players on the roster. How can this possibly work?!
@ernestdove You are 100% right. The other teams you mentioned have players stepping up offensively in the absence of missing players. Ben Rice. Matt Olson. Yordan Alvarez. Nobody has stepped up for the Mets. Not one hitter is having an impactful season.
@LIDucks@MLB@BauerOutage Trevor Bauer marked the beginning of the trend where the Mets think they have a player and the Dodgers steal that player from them at the last second — like Diaz and Tucker this year.
@ernestdove I’ve been wondering when he will appear in a spring training game. Was he injured slightly? Is he behind a little? Can’t wait to see him pitch in a varsity game.
@ernestdove Love that. made me laugh out loud. If you think about it, Dodgers are in the 110% tax bracket. That means they are paying $126 million a year for Tucker. $126 million. That's how absurd this has all become.
@PSLToFlushing Here’s the real absurdity of it. The Dodgers are in the 110% penalty tax bracket. That means they are paying Tucker $126 million a year! Someone needs to talk about this. Can’t be good for baseball.
@WardyNYM Appears to be Cubs number 1, 11 and an unranked prospect. Can compare that to similar Mets prospects. A lot to give up for 120 innings per year and a questionable elbow.
