@AlexHollings52 I can see this being used in combination with a non-stealth attack. The Chinese are focused on a large scale carrier or B-52 attack and LRASMs come in from a different direction with devastating effects. The Ukraine and Iran war is showing that many missiles get intercepted.
@bill_gilpin_UK@SancastleAir@RealAirPower1 Not in those days. You could fire contemporary Sparrows and Sidewinders until the cows came home with nothing to show for it. That’s the reason the M-61 was added to the F-4E and subsequent fighters.
@MarioNawfal You have to be a full blown cult follower to believe this nonsense. If this had actually happened, it would’ve taken an enormous amount of time and the administration would’ve have absolutely released video evidence of it. This is a distraction from the shoddy Trump contractor
@AtomicCoyote61 Wouldn’t have mattered. British special forces attacked and destroyed most of the Pucaras in a raid. They were a non-factor. If the Argentines had had decent ground security, the Pucaras could have been devastating to the British ground troops who were forced to walk to Stanley.
@Libertyordaeth@NavyStrang@DavidNorrish What policy is that? Maritime patrol and AEW aircraft are usually based on civilian aircraft. They can and do carry anti-ship & land attack weapons and can help control huge swaths of airspace. By any definition those are high value targets for any enemy.
@RealAirPower1 The issue is that the S-400 would collect information about the F-35 when it’s operating to its full potential and the Russians, who service the system, would have access to that.
@The_qolnh@_capitalcontrol BS. Turkey WAS an integral part of the F-35 program and was going to participate in production and ongoing maintenance in Europe. Erdogan chose the issue for domestic political purposes. Stupid
@LockJaw55@cdrsalamander Drones have changed warfare. The battlefield is under constant surveillance. If you can’t counter the drone threat, tanks will take enormous, even catastrophic losses. It’s analogous to air supremacy.
@Aviation_Intel It’s a good idea. But the optics of helping an actual socialist state when you deny disaster aid to Blue States is pretty stark. Source: Politico https://t.co/nbgoUD3ecZ
@eslo_dev@tshugart3 If they can get Patriot like interceptors down to $1 mil that’s a game changer. IRBMs & MRBMs are quite expensive.
Hardened shelters work against lower level threats. But accurate hypersonic warheads would penetrate any above ground structure.
@oscarddt@Aviation_Intel Trump is the hater. He’s been attacking Canada from the moment he took office. So they’re going to spend $Billions in Europe instead of the US. Plenty of NATO/Western fighter/AEW/Helicopter choices beyond the US.
@johnkonrad@cwgabaldo He’s right. Wiping out Iran’s irrelevant navy and Air Force wasn’t much of an accomplishment. They still have missiles & drones & the ability to make them. We can’t destroy their nuclear knowledge. They’ll be closing the Strait whenever they want now. Trump taught them that.
@Noahpinion@ScarboroughNow This is using purchasing power parity, PPP. When you do that to other countries you find that China is #1 by a good bit and Russia is #4, ahead if Japan & Germany. It helps explain how they’ve been able to stay in the war against Ukraine.
@tshugart3@usairforce I agree that we need to construct shelters. But the Russians are likely to have the same experience as the Iraqis when Flamingo missiles come for their bombers, shelters or not.
