This decision secured the preservation of the King Center as a vital staple of Black history and a lasting tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.

Thanks to this act, the King Center will continue to serve as a beacon of inspiration and education for generations to come. It is profoundly disappointing that a bishop, who claims to advocate for the Black community, would choose to attack this historic accomplishment for Black Mississippi students. Such actions undermine progress and discredit the efforts to uplift and preserve our shared history.
