🚨Last night, ABC7’s N.J. Burkett reported a blockbuster story exposing the MTA’s falsifying of bus maintenance records, jeopardizing Bus Operators, the riding public and anyone else on the road.
Armed with the records proving widespread fraud, TWU Local 100 has blown the lid off of senior MTA management’s concealing of serious bus maintenance failures through their systematic clearing of repair orders that were never completed.
Following surprise 19A inspections at bus depots across the city, the union has uncovered buses with serious safety defects—including cracked windshields, inoperative lights, brake issues and other unresolved mechanical problems—that should never have been returned to service.
Local 100 President John V. Chiarello said the records paint a troubling picture of an agency more focused on making maintenance problems disappear on paper than actually fixing them in the garages.
The union’s investigation revealed evidence of work orders that show Bus Maintainers being credited with repairs while they were off duty, on personal leave—not even at the depot.
Maintenance Directors Tommy Lenane and Mike Rehn said the records reveal a pattern in which critical “redline hold” defects including brakes, steering and tires were marked as repaired despite no work having been performed.
The MTA’s response is to deny that this is happening, yet they admit at least one MTA Supervisor has been suspended since ABC7 began asking questions.

This is disgusting as usual. More of the same partisan political speeches to active duty troops following the standard practice of Trump, Vance and Hegseth to violate a fundamental principle of the Republic. It’s also gross that more Republican vets don’t call this out.

NBC Exclusive:
A White House task force has been gathering thousands of pages of documents from intelligence agencies — with plans to declassify some of them — so Trump can amplify new disinformation about past elections, three people familiar with the effort said. https://t.co/Bqbp8IblYi
The Mamdani administration just released budget docs showing that it projects next fiscal year's deficit at $6.4 billion.
Will be another interesting budget season next year...

Especially if you’re (hypothetically) having your wedding at MSG this weekend.
julie’s track record as a fighter was perfect for the moment, but her campaign seemed to run away from it at times. i get it. it’s statewide office. but i think owning this lane rather than pivoting away for a senate run is going to cause voters to think you’re playing politics.
